Hey, Carl - is this your new Annushka?

The Sibwings An2 had an update yesterday.

I think its a joke or misunderstanding, Alex from SW finished the work about models few years ago, closed the forum/support in forum also. Maybe you never hit update button or you have modified files. In this case if you hit update button you will see few files dowloded from server. Nothing the new. You can check the version of Your An-2 also (i think in aircraft.cfg but I write from the memory, I havent now FSX on disc, only P3Dv4 so cant to check it and confirm).

I selected her for a flight and got the message that there was an update...

I second the comment of Yoyo. The air file 2.3 was considered a "beta" and the update facility insist to install the official one (2.1) !
This was mentioned on the forum years ago !

Sorry to disapoint you.

I'd like to know how you found the update as I went to their FB page (I don't use FB) and managed to see the AN2 there and a few comments, some mentioned lack of support.
At any rate, Where can I find this update and what is the version number? Thanks :teapot:

I used their update and it did not work for me. I installed to P3D V3.4. The AN2 works fine in P3D V3.4 - now this updater says it cannot find the installation of the AN-2.

it worked fine in v3.4 its only v4 its fails to load the anti piracy .dll

As far as the updater goes, It's no big deal for me - I tried to bring to light that the installer automatically assumes you are going to install it to FSX ergo, C:\\Programs 86\Microsoft Simulator X
is what I saw when I went to install it - now, I tried to point it to Lockheed Martin P3d and it will create a Microsoft Simulator X folder WITHIN P3d and install files there. It is determined to do this routine.

Having said that, I installed it to a fake folder and then copied over all that was there including the folder that has the updater in it to P3d. The AN2 will launch in P3d; no probs there, just with the updater
and it exclaims with not finding FSX. Like I said, it is bound and determined to find FSX. It doesn't really matter to me; I am just trying to state what my experiences were with this updater. :engel016:

Great news! I thought this project would never see the light of day. Would like to see it converted to XPL11 in the future....

Hello.

There seems to be some confusion about the update.

When you load the aircraft, it "phones home" to check the integrity of its files.
If you have removed any of its core files, it offers to "update" but this will only
replace the files that have been removed.

If you have updated the .air file, leave the existing version 2.1 file in place, the aircraft
will not read it as you will have edited the aircraft config entry to reflect the new file,
ie sim=Antonov_AN2_v2.1 changed to sim=Antonov_AN2_v2.3

The check does not include edits to the aircraft.cfg file and there will be no update message
because the original file structure is still in place.

If you have installed the aircraft to P3D by placing a copy of fsx.exe into the P3D root folder,
the installer cannot recognise P3D, so of course the update will write back the files to the original structure.
The answer to that is do not remove any files and the check will not result in an update.
Naturally, another choice is to select No and the update will not go ahead.

Just for grins, I installed AN2 to FSX so that I could see just what that updater does, sure enough, it checks what I've installed to FSX and reports nothing to update. Now this is using the version
I purchased years ago and is the V2.1 - I removed it all as I mainly use P3D now. I put a copy of FSX.exe in the root dir of P3d and the updater still didn't work - I think in part or mostly because
I "disturbed" the file structure it used during the initial installation. But that is moot as I have utilized the 2.3 FDE and I am Okay with the way it is with P3d.

Thanks anyway...:engel016:

The intention was only to explain that the update that some people thought was actually an update is in fact not an update and the aircraft is not being updated.
