FSX Native B-26 Marauder Goes "Gold"

Might want to add that if getting a CTD, then check the Events Viewer to see what the "Faulting Module" is. I have 5 bucks that says it's NTDLL.DLL error like I was getting with Rob Richardson's new F-9 Cougar.:banghead:

That's interesting - I don't have that .dll in my Modules folder in the sim.

I thought for a while that this problem was with only certain paints, but after more testing there really is no pattern to this CTD issue for me. Here's my notes so far:

-- Hasn't caused any problem yet
Funny Bunny
Geogia's on my Mind
Idiots Delight
Rosie O'Brady
Repulsive Rabbit

-- CTDs when selecting the paint.
Fightin Cock
Big Ass Bird
Heavenly Body
Keller's Killer
Shu Shu Baby

-- Loads but CTDs on changing plane
Some Punk Kin
Willie Jr.
Valkyrie

-- Sometimes loads, sometimes CTDs
Rationed Pasion
ISH TAK HA BA
KWB26
Wam Bam

The Windows event viewer says msvcrt.dll is the faulting module.

Experiencing the crash issue.

All liveries appear to be associated with crash however intermittently and randomly.

Tried re-downloading and installing the package but problem persists.

You should Google the reported msvcrt.dll error. Lots of Win/7 crashes reported for different reasons; one may apply to your system. Note that many times the error is caused by the program requesting msvcrt.dll services when improper data is supplied.

Thanks for reporting the technicals guys; that helps a bit.

Is anyone besides Win 7 users seeing this crash issue?

Yesterday the B-26 flew without any problems, but this AM they all crashed. Using windows 7

I'm beginning to think its simply a texture overload issue when changing liveries multiple times. There are lots of large textures in the mix when you throw in the bumps and specs.

Of course it could be the NFL trying to get us all to watch the game :)

Anybody who is having CTD problems with the B-26 Gold release, my question would be did the first release have any difficulties like this?

Ah, Milton...You're stealing my ideas! I was also thinking about texture issues. Maybe try substituting one of the original textures for the ones causing the problem, if that's possible?

Milton, my bad. My B-26s didn't crash to CTD, they just locked up the FSX. Re-booted and just made a nice flight in one with no problems.

We cannot compare the old with the new; there are tons of differences, and the two are not compatible so that does not help.

Just uploaded Holy Moses and (with apologies to butcherbird17) my interpretation of Countess II.

For those of you having crashes, please load these replacement textures into your common "texture" folder.

Though they appeared correctly in DXTbmp, they would not open in Imagetool so I corrected them.

Just unzip, then copy the contents to the one common "texture" folder overlaying the original textures.

Then test.

Thanks

Could be Milton. I'm flying Big Ass Bird right now over central California with no problems. It was one of the paints the always crashed FSX. On the other hand, with me this all started when the first paint I loaded crashed the sim.

I did notice that some paint folder contain only the bits that are different (10 files), while some others contain the whole "shootin match" worth of files. Would this make any difference?

I'm getting the same results with the new textures. I can't find any pattern to this. Sometimes they load, sometimes not. Very strange.

Paul,

No, those folders that have more are because they are different than the common texture folder files. They were modified to suit the livery.

No folder has the whole shooting match. :)
