Dino F-14D navigation lights

Hello,

As with all his models, the F-14D is simply stunning, and I enjoy it immensely.

The singular irritant I have is the red/green navigation lights. They're a fair bit too bright and voluminous, at least for my taste, and arguably vs what we could see in a real-world context.

Has anyone modified these? Obviously, they're baked into the model, so I presume there'd have to be some massaging in MCX - looked at a few threads here but they had to do with animations. Surely I'm not the first to have wondered about this ... :biggrin-new:

Thanks in advance for any tips.

cheers,

dl

I have Dino's F-14D for SP2 and my Nav red and green lights are listed in the [Lights] section of the aircraft.cfg.

Charlie,

May I ask where you downloaded a SP2 version of Dino's F-14D ?
All I could find is the Acceleration version everywhere.

Thanks,
MZ

Hi,

Thanks. I should have clarified I'm running FSX-A. That being the case, the version I have has as the following under the lights:

[LIGHTS]
//Types: 1=beacon, 2=strobe, 3=navigation, 4=cockpit, 5=landing
//Lights encoded into MDL file
light.1 = 10, -13.50, 0.00, 4.00, fx_f14d_vclight_dino
light.2 = 10, -19.00, 0.00, 4.00, fx_f14d_vclight_dino
light.3 = 6, -15.00, 0.00, -1.20, fx_landing

Hence the question about how to modify the lights in mdl accordingly.

It will be in the attachments tab, which is the paperclip in mcx toolbar

You will just need to select nav light and replace it with the desired replacement
