TDS GTNXi vs. PMS5 GTN 750

jmig

SOH-CM-2025
I am considering purchasing one of the above GPSs. Does anyone have experience with either? I have the two P3D versions of the 750 (Flight1 & TXP) and enjoyed using them with IFR flights. I understand the two GPSs above will both work in VR. I am interested if one functions better and easier than the other in VR.

TDS, all the way! It has more functions than I ever use and works great. I got it mainly for my Flysimware Cessna 414 but plan on using it for other models when available. The price point was also a deciding factor for me.

Thanks for responding.

Points to consider:

TDS:
- Based on Garmin trainer, so navdata is out of date

PMS:
- Based MSFS internal database (or navigraph) so always up to date
- Freeware version available

Try the freeware PMS5 GTN 750, see if you like it...

Thank you both for your suggestions. I downloaded the free version of PMS5, but I did purchase the TDS 750Xi. So far, I have tried it on the C-414 and the RV-14. In both cases it worked just fine and is easy to use.

I have considered Navigraph charts. However, most of my flying is VFR and the GPS map works fine for me. If I want to fly an ILS I can dial it up easy enough. I don't care if it is up to date.
