Sim Update X

Love the V-Tailed Doctor Killer, but with typical encrypted files, I'll have to think on this one a bit.

groan..latest update reset all my control settings back to default, why?

I really like this sim, but they are making it hard for me...

Seriously?!! :banghead:

I just wish that there was a way of backing up the control config settings like FSX/P3D allows, I had this headache when I updated the firmware on my Virpil HOTAS setup!

I was "Lucky" in the fact that I had the button layout diagrams for the controllers printed out along with notations on which switch did this & that, but it was still a long chore to re-assign the multiple switch actions.

I also have a mate who has the same Virpil setup as me & also appreciates how I had my controller switches set up, it would be nice just to back the controller config up, allowing me to just share it (or have I overlooked this feature?!)

Which update reset your settings? The little August 10 scenery and 3rd-party dev update? That didn't reset anything on mine, and it's hard to see why it would.

But it's good you reminded us. I just took some screen shots of my options screens so that when SU10 comes out in another month, I'm ready just in case. That reset did happen to me with one SU, but I feel like it was one of the early ones, like in late 2020 or early 2021.

The sim hasn't received an update for 2 and a half months... the marketplace update is just that, a marketplace update, it's done on the backend and does not require a client update or change any local files.

Controller profiles are saved to the Xbox account that you are signed in with. Make sure you are signed in with the correct account and you have the correct controller preset selected.

The only updates to the sim at the moment are coming out of the beta group. If you're running the stable version, the only update currently available is in the Content Manager, and it's a small update to the WU XI package.

I've been away on holiday, and not touched my sim for over a month, so it could be something older...anyway, it said mandatory update and off it went....messing things up. But all is restored once more I think. Those default settings are horrible...

I'm running MS2020 through Steam, does the same method apply?

Keith.

Yes, so for example if you decided to switch from the Steam version to the MS Store/Xbox App version, all of your settings, progress, logbook etc. will carry over and vice versa. Your Marketplace purchases, however, do not. This is because Steam takes a cut of all Marketplace transactions made via the Steam version.

Steam also stores a bunch of files locally and I don't really know how they work, but if you navigate to Steam\userdata\numbers*\1250410\remote, you will find your settings and controller profiles are stored there. They are .xml files that don't have an extension but you can open them with any editor that supports .xml. I think this is the folder that Microsoft pulls/pushes data to and from cloud storage, but I don't know for sure and I haven't personally tried making local backups and restoring them, but it should be possible?

*these numbers are unique to your system if I recall correctly.

They are working with NVIDIA to fix memory management in DX12, they were aiming for two weeks two weeks ago so hopefully not much longer now.

The full release of Sim Update 10 is on its way, slated for next week! While we are pinpointing the exact day of release, our team is currently adding in our final changes and updates for SU10. Beta users can expect one final test build coming shortly. We have also been closely working with NVIDIA regarding our DX12 optimizations and we plan to release SU10 in conjunction with an NVIDIA driver update that will help one of the first issues our Beta users discovered (graphical glitches and artifacts).

I'm curious about releasing SU10 Today. My fingers are crossed and I hope it will be the true. :wavey:

I am quite interested in the GeForce driver as I had severe artifacts in DX12 as well. Otherwise DX12 was quite convincing to me.
