Hells Canyon National Recreation Area in Idaho is a great place for some backcountry adventure flying. There are some nice airstrips by Backwoodstudios and plenty of little default airstrips in the area. Great fun in questionable weather and challenging in the wind.

Just about finished my first livery for FS2024. In researching the Piper Cub, I discovered they were manufactured and assembled right here in my own city from 1940-46! They were first assembled from American parts in a small shop on Adams Street, then the production moved up to a hangar at CYHM and manufactured there, only stopping production for a year to rebuild after a fire.
Wondering how that little nugget of Canadian aviation history has been forgotten around here, I certainly did not know this. I'm glad to be able to bring them into the sim so, here's my first CF-BUQ, registered Nov. 26 1945. I'll likely do a few more Hamilton-made Cubs taking some liberties on the detail as almost no photos exist on line and I may have to wander down to the public library, or pay the Warplane Heritage archives a visit.

These are from a little while ago (pre SU4). I haven't been back there for a while, and I haven't reactivated my ORBX airport after the update. However, I remember there being some photogrammetry issues with the trees there. Some are just the blurry greenish pillars. I don't remember too many palms. Maybe you can tell from zooming in on some of these pics. I like to fly passenger runs out the the rigs there.

This morning, I decided to activate my Orbx KSBA, and head back down there to get more current shots of the flora for you. The flight down was beautiful with all the morning fog, but (as you can see from the second shot below of my approach) the weather wasn't conducive to screenshots.
After adjusting the weather, you can see that the Orbx airport is quite nice, but anywhere outside the airport still suffers greatly from poor photogrammetry. Ah well, it's still a great place to fly out to the oil platforms.

I was out at Santa Barbara in October for the airshow at Santa Maria. The whole area is abundant with different palm tree species. The images here re-enforce my fear that 2024 has not really moved us forward in this area!
