Alaska Airlines Golden Nugget Livery???

If I can figure out how or else you may get black. I created them yesterday and they looked great on the paintkit but in the model the rear portions are "discombibulated" Trying to find somebody elses textures to show me how to paint the ends of the nacelles. Time will tell. Going to work on them in a little while.

It is NOT problem. If you cannot do gold, then it is NOT problem to use black. I am just happy that you are painting the Alaska Airline Golden Nugget livery on freeware PAD DCH-6 Twin Otter that NOBODY painted before meaning you are going to be first person in history of flight simming to paint that livery.

Aharon

Once I get determined, I am like the bulldog and won't let go until it's proved to be totally impossible no matter what. I am not bragging, but after six hours of downloading, testing, more etc. I had to tweak the paintkit I had created to match the model with the textures and here it is, almost complete. Still have to create the tail art. I also was able to find a model that will work with Prepar3D V4.5 and probably 5 that did not have the newer French textures so totally different. The type font for "Alaska" wasn't easy to find either. I remember from my days as a printer looking for type fonts to match a client request. I had to do a little tweaking of that as well to get a match.

I discovered in comparing photos online, that this was the first repaint and then later in 1973 the black engine nacelles were created for N100AS and N200AS which I am going to create as well.

I am sorry to hear that you had to spend 6 hours on that repaint. I thought it would be one hour. Please accept my humblest apologies. If I had known it would take you 6 hours, I would not have asked you to paint. Once again, please accept my apologies.

Your latest draft of the repaint looks amazing and thank you for painting gold on engine nacelles. Also zillions of thanks to you for your announcement that you will do two more repaints for the other two registration numbers which would make GREAT ADDITION to all flight simmers who love to fly around Alaska.

Once again, much appreciated for your amazing kindness.

Regards,

Aharon

Good repaints are never just a few moments I can tell you from 15 years experience and then when you think you know what you're doing, someone asks you to repaint some discombulated paint kit (I mention no names). Anyway, you don't need to apologize. I chose to do it for you. I used to be a professional model maker of ship models. When you are a "pro" you don't get to choose what you want to do. Here I do so again no apologies because I chose to do it for you and I am glad it came out so nice.

Here it is in Golden Engine Nacelles as delivered in May 1969. When I was doing the tail art I noticed in the photos I was using that there IS no black deicer boot on the tail so I removed it.DHC6 Alaska Air Golden Nugget 1969.png
Interesting too is that a month later, ALASKA in red was not only on the nose but also above the N711AS. I think I will probably add that before I package this for the Resources. Got just enough time today before it's Yabba, Dabba Do time.

Went back to this after dinner while my wife and daughter watched TV. Each time you carefully look at photos you notice something. Here I believe is a photo of the final version I will place in the Resources tomorrow of the repaint as it was delivered to Alaska Airlines in May of 1969.

@tgycgijoes

Thank you very very very much for your extremely amazing kindness in painting not only one livery but also other two same liveries with different registration numbers and little bit different colors. It is much appreciated and matzel tov on becoming first repainter to successfully paint Alaska Airline liveries on freeware Premier Aircraft Design DCH-6 Twin Otter.

It is much appreciated with great gratitude.

With humblest thanks,

Aharon

You are very welcome. I am going to be tied up the rest of this week so I probably won't do the N200AS or N100AS until next week but today I will be uploading the Repaint not the complete model to respect Premier Aircraft Designs copyright (even though they are no longer around) in the Resources with a short readme. PAD has an excellent manual for the aircraft and panel included. Here is the link to the package I used from AVSIM. It is a direct download link when you click it. Follow their instructions and then my README to put the information into the aircrft.cfg.

Before I do the other two liveries for this FSX DHC6 I want to do this livery for a Prepar3D V4/5 DHC6. Eagle Rotorcraft Simulations started with the FS2002 then FS2004 then FSX and finally arrived with this version for Prepar3D V4 (no PBR). The model is totally different though as is the texture files. That being said, I intend to do the Golden Nugget Livery for this P3D-V4 native and will open a thread in the Prepar3D Forum for it. Wanted that to be said here. This is for FSX ONLY and because the interior and vc are built into the model of the FSX, I couldn't convert it. I'm glad that Eagle Rotorcraft Simulations did.

Where would one find the ERS DHC6 for P3D? I have the years old FSX payware one somewhere on a back-up DVD but I would have to go hunting for it.

I have spent hours and hours going through DHC6 files for the past week in this Golden Nugget Repaint but by chance I remembered it was here. Enjoy. I will be doing the Golden Nugget Livery for it as I said above and that post will be over in the Prepar3D Forum/V4 Subforum. It is only because you put me onto the wireframe tool in Model Converter X. I owed you...now we're even. LOL!!!

Unless I am mistaken, I believe ERS is freeware company making freeware add on planes and helicopters. the company is owned by George Amanda (spelling). Maybe you confuse your old payware one with Aerosoft DHC-6 ???

Aharon

I have the old Aerosoft payware one on a back-up DVD somewhere in a box in the basement. I was asking about the ERS one for P3D so that I could take a look at it to see if it was worth using instead.

Thanks for that link, I DL'd it and installed but I won't be keeping it unfortunately. The VC gauges would all need replacing as many are very low res or totally unreadable and there are other things on the model that would need tweaking too. For as often as I would fly it I don't think it's worth my time fixing it.

@Tako_Kichi

Well I used panel alais to King Air 350 and I am very satisifed with high quality repaints for that freeware PAD Twin Otter. My concern is exterior appearance of the plane for sake of beauty of screenshots and so far the high quality repaints for that plane meet my concern just like I am 1,000,000 percent confident that @tgycgijoes made excellent Golden Nugget repaint that will look great in beauty of screenshots. Smiling

Aharon

thank you. Like Golden Age Simulations, we all now have good enough computers/memory that they can handle 4096bit textures which is what I used so that they are high quality. The originals were 1024x1024. I am flying the Aerosoft with their Golden Nugget repaint in Prepar3D V4.5. Obviously, it's payware...it's a lot newer and MADE for Prepar3D V4/5 not an FS2002 to FS2004 to FSX and finally P3D. Although you gotta give Eagle Rotorcraft credit for doing all that work to get it to P3D. I D/L'd it too and I think that it is what it is updated freeware. I agree with you though Larry, like many of my freeware downloads, I'll fly for a little while and then move on. I have FS-A.D.D. LOL!
