  • Special Server Maintenance

Just when you think you have everything running some what better...

You get a message from the Hosting company. Short story they need to move us to a new server. I have been working with them to plan a good date for all concerned. Here is what we have come up with as a schedule.

    1. November 4th 17:00 -5UTC shut off the forums and start backup proceedures. During this time there will be no access to the forums or the Resource Section.
    2. November 5th Continue with Backups and download same until complete.
    3. November 6th 7:00 turn over server to hosting company to move system to new server
    4. November 7th - 8th restore backups and upgrade forum software.

If all goes well we should be back online on November 8th.

To keep you updated we will post updates on AVSIM forums.

    Thank you for your support.

SU7 downside

Was impressed that SU7 installed without showing visual progress but my first running of SU7 left me very disappointed.

Starting at Bowman field where I developed my own scenery the buildings did not initially appear. Minutes later they began
to appear without textures and finally the textures did appear.

A similar experience occurred at LaGuardia using the default scenery. Initially only the Jetways appeared. Then the buildings
and textures. After 10 min the buildings had not appeared. A flight to KJFK and back then showed the buildings. Approaching
KLGA from a distance gave better results than starting there.

Similarly the same thing happened at KSTL with the scenery update on Marketplace. Also the Jetways did not connect to the
buildings.

Fortunately coming back to those airports after the PC had been turned off, the buildings would sometimes show immediately.
The one airport that sometimes refuses to show buildings and the tower is KLGA. Perhaps it is negatively influenced by the
complexity of the Manhattan skyscrapers.

Just a thought: you might want to delete the rolling cache file.

Thanks, Priller, for your expert advice. Flights load faster and buildings show immediately.:)

I've never fooled with the rolling cache before and found several different ways listed on Youtube
with different paths. One path matched my PC where the ROLLINGCACHE.CCC file was deleted.

Use this for easy cleaning of cache folders...https://flightsim.to/addon/92765/msfs2024-cache-removal-tool
