All of a sudden a Cat in the wild

I suppose I must be a terribly spoiled 56 year old brat. Saw something moving outside the window of my Amsterdam flat: flying at less than 1,000 feet from East to West over the Naval Station approx 2 miles away the beautiful PBY5a Catalina PH-PBY. :jump: Standing on my balcony I could clearly hear the comforting sound of the two R-1830-92s.

What a lovely day.:d

Cheers,
Maarten

Would that be the silver one with Dutch af markings? there was a photo spread in Flypast a few months back, looks lovely, hope it makes a trip to the UK next year.
cheers ian

Awesome....

One Sunday, I saw a Liberator fly over, and then a B-17... I was like, woooooot in the world is going on???. There was a flyin down the way that I didnt know about. Really wild to see such history flying around.

I don't remeber when, but I was in Gurnee Illinois near Wuakeegan Intl I heard this screaming roar, like a classic jet, I looked up and there was an f-86 and an f-86K, Another time (years earlier) I as at my grandpa's house and saw a sopwith camel and some other WWI bird "Pretend" dogfighting, That was cool.:mixedsmi:

I was lucky enough several years ago while at work to witness the following:
I was working inside a storage trailer. It was summer time. Beautiful day.
I had read an artical that they were coming to town and then I heard that wonderful sound. Ran out of the trailer and looked up at the B-29 "Fifi" flying over low and fast, followed by the B-24 "Diamond Lil"!!!! The next day we went out to the airport and toured "Fifi". Pretty wild sitting in the left seat of the only flying B-29.
Can't wait till they get her flying again.

Bill, ten to one says you saw Witchcraft and Nine O Nine, both owned by the Collings Foundation. They were at KBUY earlier this week, but I didn't get to go. Witchcraft is the same plane that used to carry the "A Dragon And His Tail" paint. They were at the same airport back in those days and I was able to take a walkthrough back then. Both of them are beautiful planes!

I remember a sad thing. The hospital I worked at in San Diego overlooked Lindberg field. There was an air show in the area the next day.
i heard the sound of round engines and looked out the window at the airport. A B-24 was flying low over the Convair plant as it was being demolished to make room for the Fedex annex. It was like the plane saying farewell to it's birth place.
