Why do I do what I do....

Chacha

Retired SOH Administrator
I have a routine in my everyday life. Mondays through Fridays, if my daughter has school, we wake up early, I wake up at 5:00am, cooks her breakfast, wakes her up at 6:10 am, gives her a quick shower, fixes her long wavey hair, (she always wanted it on a pony tail), feeds her, made sure she brushes her teeth; dresses her up (she wears her school uniform) and drops her off to her day care at 6:45am or later. Her school doesn't start till 7:20am. Although her school is just a block away from our apartment, I drop her off to her daycare and they drop her off to school- it saves me time and SANITY. (we live very close to school that school bus is not an option)

Saturdays (daughter goes to her ballet class) and Sundays (after church) I drop her off to her dad for a few hours; after the quick visitation, daughter and I go to the beach, eat at a local restaurant, sing Karaoke, or just being lazy stay at home... Her dad wants her every weekend rather than every other weekend, (but only in a few hours)..

The one hour 5-6am is where I have my quiet time.

I used to drop her off at school at 7am, the drop off takes me about an hour or more to get off to the school drop-off-queue. Parents with school kids know what I am talking about.

YES, I pay extra money for my sanity-

If I have the energy, I go shopping at walmart or target these are the shops close to my place that opens 24 hours or go grocery shopping.

In the afternoon, I pick my daughter up at 2:45 pm, at her day care, sometimes, I pick her up before 6pm, if I am very busy at work. Gives her dinner, helps her do her home work, makes sure she gets a shower, (she's 8, she can take a shower by herself but I make sure her hair is combed in the shower while it is still wet - otherwise, it will take us an hour and a half combing the tangles)

I get the early dose of SOH before I drop her off to school, after my quiet time! After the drop off, I go back to my computer and check my mails, and hang out at SOH, till I get tired and go back to take a nap. Work starts at noon or later, for me, I work at home, West Coast time.

Early today, SOH would turn on, I emailed every person I know to help me. I almost lost my mind :isadizzy:

Now, call me insane, addict, or whatever.... (what was I doing before the SOH and flying days?)

SOH and flying is the only vice I have, aside from shopping! :isadizzy:

I have a lot of time slackin' at home, where I fly on my favorite FS9 aircrafts. (I fly FSX and XP9 as well)

And tell me who is not insane from among us these days? :pop4:

OK.... Back to my sane world! :engel016:

How would you answer this question:

"Would you say you are more happy than unhappy with your current life, or more unhappy than happy?"

You don't have to answer anyone here, but you should answer that question to yourself from time to time. The answer will tell you when it's time to seek other or different things.

It seems that your daughter is far more lucky than she knows, now. She'll realize it some years from now, though -

:applause:

i got totally lucky, when i did the single dad thing. he was 12 by that point, and boys are easy. i would wake him up, then i would go to work, to be there by 6 am. he could make his own breakfast, and get himself ready for school.
the bus picked him up at about 7:45. i got home from work between 4:30 and 6:30, and i would cook dinner while he did his homework. he did the dishes after dinner and we would watch movies, play video games or just mess around somehow. weekends i worked too. (then)

nowadays, with the wifes kids it's a whole 'nother deal. they are older as well, but they are tougher to wake up. once i remind them that staying home means hangin with me, they are up and out. :icon_lol: they are better about doin their homework, so it's a trade-off.
between 8:30 and 6:00 is my time to do house stuff, and mess around here and the guitar forum, and fly, and play my guitar.

I think I can say I am more content, satisfied, and looking into my fulfillment in my life.....

sleep, whats that?

sleep
-verb (used without object)
to take the rest afforded by a suspension of voluntary bodily functions and the natural suspension, complete or partial, of consciousness; cease being awake.

I know Ickie, I seldom have a good night sleep. So as much as I can - take the chance if I could at least nap...

In my case, (since Hannah has a non-resident father) it was a little tougher, my baby was at an early age of 3 and a half... :isadizzy:

I go to the gym three times a week, I need that....

My daughter is 8 and I need all the endurance to keep up with her activities ... swimming, rock climbing, ballet lessons, ice skating, kite flying...

She is the LOVE of my life....

She loves swimming, ballet, ice skating and monkey bars...

This is Hannah's Father, I was once married to...

Beautiful daughter ChaCha.

Well, at least you arent sleeping your life away. :d Thats the good news. The bright side of things.

Here's the deal from one who has been there - enjoy it, because it will be all over before you know it and you will find yourself wishing they were small again.
