V-Raptor Best Sale Ever

To be honest, I wouldn't want a power eating, noisy, heat emitting 10000rpm HDD in my computer, especially if you can get a nearly identically fast drive for a fraction of the Velociraptor's price (Spinpoint F1 series).

Hmmm...never heard a sound from mine..And it runs all day at 29 degrees C.

But it does like power

I don't have any of the Velociraptors yet. I do have some of the older Raptors and the Velociraptor is supposed to be even faster. Concerning the older ones... I don't know (and don't care) how much power they are using. They can be noisy in some cases. They are not noisy in my CM Stackers. They don't run all that hot. "Nearly" don't cut it.

I'm still using floppy discs, so I have no clue what you are talking about, LOL :costumes:

LOLOLOL... LMAO! :costumes:

Well Bob, at least you arent on cassettes anymore.

On HD's, isnt there a new line of HD's hitting the market that run on variable RPM, with ultra high RPM available, but only upon moderate demand, and it will actually shut down when not in use? (I saw some at Frys Electronics a few months back).

You just can't hide money.....LOL :costumes:

How do you like them Kilo?

:costumes:.....pity they're only worth a tiny fraction of what I paid for them when they were launched. :redf:

I find them brilliant....very quick boot up and they are fantastic for holding FSX addon photo scenery. I've the 2.5" Samsung 64GB ssd's with 100mb/sec read/write....2 in my main pc and one in my Alienware m9750 notebook. I've a varied mix of hard drives in my systems ...from standard 7200rpm SATA drives through the 1tb Samsung F1's and all versions of WD's Raptor series including the VRaptors.SSD's are the future,however,...no moving parts to go wrong and totally silent too. :mixedsmi:

Its sad,but I totally understand about the worth being next to nothing that was paid......

I am intrested in them though....Did you put your OS on one?

@Lionheart....... Seems to me I heard something about them too! But of coarse I don't remember when or where or what it was......Its that arn CRS desease I got....:banghead: :censored:

Okay, the sound was a guess.

My F1 is actually pretty noisy when booting up, but once it runs, it is only whispering - and rarely hotter than 20°C.

Four times more expensive for a small boost wouldn't be an argument for me.

But if it makes you happy, why not...

What noise?.......go SSD :wavey::costumes:

Yep...I've the OS installed on one (Vista 64 Ultimate) with the second drive dedicated to my FSX addon scenery......mainly Megacenery photo textures etc. Boot up time to desktop takes ~20 seconds from pressing the power button. Since their launch, prices have dropped substantially on the SSD's and capacity's have increased too.

Bjoern....You crack me up.....LOl Thats a cool running HDD there...Thats great

My 150 raptor is like that some..its a little clicky on startup..But then it gets quiet.......That too is a reason why its now just a storage drive...Seems like such a waste too....LOL:costumes:

Kilo delta...I will get a SSD nect time I'm in the market for a new drive....I want on as am too addicted to technoligy....Ughhhhhh:banghead:

LOL....I've said it before....it's an addiction :redf::costumes:

Well, with six 80mm case fans, I actually shouldn't care about noisy HDDs, but the F1 is even louder than those noise multipliers on startup.

Ever since I got those fans, I only sleep with the PC running in the background in a select few cases.
That PC is simply too loud, even when I throttle them down.

But at least I have subantarctic climate in my case now. :icon_lol:
