I have got a liitle tidying up to do and some work on the spectrals before uploading.

I will also be doing a RCN low vis cammo version these paints are fictictous what if aircraft for the IRIS FG1 phantoms.

Looks fantastic, Medic!!

I'd say you captured the transition from the Banshee to the Phantom very well.

The only problem I'd see is the flag - since the period we're talking is like early to mid 1960s, I'd say the Royal Canadian Naval Ensign would be more historically accurate ...

Sorry I don't have a better reference shot, but look at this CP-121 Tracker:

http://www.amazon.com/CANADIAN-Aircraft-Finish-Markings-1944-1968/dp/B000NNT8IO

The artwork for this would be as follows:

Small detail, and of course, on a later version (such as a low-vis), the Maple Leaf would be perfect.

I hope this helps ... many thanks!

Thanks for the info a small tweak is all it will take to change the flag for the more appropriate ensign. I am always glad to hear advice every little helps, I should have the first paint finished in a day or so thats if she who must be obeyed (the wife) doe's not find something else for me to do.

Medic - it truly looks awesome. The stencilling is superb, as are the colours and overall composition.

Looking at it more closely, I realized I may have accidentally given you bad guidance. It all comes down to the roundels. Unfortunately, I can't quite completely make the roundels, but I think you've chosen the "new" roundels. If that's the case, then your choice of the Canadian Flag on the fin in your first version - would have been correct.

To explain, until the 1968, the Maple Leaf on the roundel looked like this:

Rcaf_roundel_old_wht.png

After, it used the more modern maple leaf, like this (only 11 points):

RCAF-Roundel.svg

Depending on which you pick, dictates the appropriate fin flash. If pre 68, then you'd want the ensign, if after, then the Maple Leaf (Canadian Flag).

I know it's a bit confusing - here is a good guide (apologies for not giving you this earlier):

http://www.canmilair.com/schemes.htm - note they focus on the RCAF mostly, but you get the idea.
Other than the fin flash - I'd say she's done - bravo!! :medals::icon29:

ps: again, big apologies for the mix-up. It stemmed from the original scheme:

He has the roundel/fin flash error. In the first round of screens, I couldn't see the roundel clearlly, so I assumed you went with old roundels as per Gekko's scheme, which is why I mentioned the ensign. It looks like you're using the new roundels, so you were right the first time with the Maple Leaf Flag.

Glad you mentioned the roundels I did use post 1968 roundels but forgot to edit them to pre 1968 to fit in with the scheme on the present screens only a small glitch, the hard part is yet to come the dreaded documentation then I can upload.

I just done recheck and I have also used 1968 onwards type font so it back to the flag I think.

Perfect - that's consistent. A post '68 scheme would covered a longer period of time (68 to mid 80s) than a scheme that focuses just on the period between the Banshee and Tri Service Unification. So this gives a good decade and a half of life to this scheme - which also squares nicely with the service life of the Audacious class carrier it could have flown from.

Well done Medic!

I have finished the final edits and some of the documentation and a carrier launch guide in PDF format and will do the installer later today with luck I should have her up sometime friday.

I will do some more work on the cammo version next week, I have also ear marked my razbam banshee for a paint over haveing learned a little about the Canadin aircraft marking system and finding out that on the original paint all the roudels are incorrect razbam have used the post 1968 format.

Hello Medic!

Looks good - all insignia match now - well done. Initially, I thought "wow - that's a big Maple Leaf on the vertical stabilizer" - but looking at the Voodoo schemes of the period, I think it's reasonable. Fantastic.

Regarding the F2H-3, yes, it's a bummer they got that mixed up. Good news about a future Banshee touchup - that would make my day! As you likely know from this thread

http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforu...ier-AI-experiment-SH-3D-plane-guard-on-Nimitz

there's been some great carrier and AI helo plane guard mods to greatly enhance the Commonwealth navies out there ...

Have a great day,

Hey, Sweet! We were just going over HMCS True North again- Finally found a RGB/CSL values for RCN ship colors- so she getting a proper repaint, and a battle group. Hopefully this weekend-post a screen later. I was just looking at the Alpha F-11F and Dino's F-14- Both prefered picks for the airstaff- well the Super(Properly developed) Tiger and Tcat, as well as the IRIS S-3. I remember the sales brochures for both types in the school library back in the '70's- Wish I had some of those now- great artists conceptions in 'em.
Can't wait to try her out later. The screen looks great!
Edit. Forgot I can access the desk top remotely. Shes just going into the sky hull/blush grey superstructure of contemporary RCN ships. Have not got it in sim yet, escorts are ready , as is the Cormorant paint.

Delta lema put forward the idea for doing the phantom paint schemes for the Candian what if Phantoms and also gave me valuble advice on the marking system for Canadian military aircraft to whom a big thank you is well deserved. I enjoyed doing the paints a great deal as the Phantom is one of my top ten favourites. May I say what a nice job you are doing with the Ark Royal and as a Brit it is very sadening that the Royal Navy as been reduced to virtual extinction and it will be 10 years before the Queen Elizibeth class carriers come into service. So if a FSX fleet of Canadian and British ships joined forces we could once again rule the waves.

Just saw this - am camping with family in Washington - had to comment and say HUGE thanks. Can't wait to get home .... :)Thanks so much - looks awesomeDL
