Robby Gordon will not give up #7 for Danica: Robby Gordon says he won't give Danica Patrick the #7 when she enters the Sprint Cup series part-time next season. "C'mon!'' Gordon said on Friday at Bristol Motor Speedway. "Why would I?'' Patrick said on Thursday, when officially announcing plans to leave the IndyCar Series to drive a fulltime Nationwide Series schedule for JR Motorsports and part-time Cup schedule for Stewart Haas Racing in 2012, that she'd like to keep the #7 that she's had throughout her motorsports career. Gordon, who has had the number for six years in Cup, isn't willing to bargain. "'I've built my business around the # 7,'' Gordon said. "It's all fun and games, but I think she should be proud to drive the #77.'' The 77 could be available. It hasn't been used for a full Cup schedule since Sam Hornish Jr. lost his ride at Penske Racing after the 2010 season.(ESPN)(8-27-2011)

As much as I like Robby, I'd bet that Danica will do better in NASCAR than Robby has.....

Robby had a terrible attitude going in NASCAR...he thought he could just beat everybody...

Funny thing numbers.
My first regular one in FF1600 was '61', simply allocated to a new boy.
If a round was run in another state and a local used 61 then I used whatever was next.
In ANF3 and ANF2 I drove with whatever was on the car, the same when we did the UK/Euro travelling circus, and for the odd drive in F-Pacific in later days.
I could care less about a number.
Anthony West has the right attitude, he used #13 (still does) on his MotoGP machines because no other riders wanted it ........... :ernae:

when i first started in the "claimer" division,,i was 43c,,,people started calling me Dave Petty,,for richard petty,,,then i started winning everything and they kind stopped...lol..but i allways stuck with the 43,,each step up i was lucky enough to get the 43 except once when we free lanced in a sprint car,,we just ran 43K for my last name no one else had it and we were fine,cept people then joked..that the cost of the engine? or your pay?

If so, it went over my head, so what's the deal with the number 77?

maybe because hornish drove it and failed?.....or whatshisface on the hub was trying to make something out of nothign? i personally dont get the "jab" other than the hornish bit

And remember, Robby is the one who first made a remark about Danica in Indycars with regard to her weight & power assisted steering...
