I saw the (a) Batmobile in the early 1980's at George Barris's workshop in Hollywood. Don't know if there was more than one made or not. It was funny because the knobs and levers on the dash were just random kitchen and bathroom stuff added to look "busy".

i saw barris' original batman tv showcar at the autorama in sacramento long time ago....it had a felt like finsih to it...not just flatblack paint..mr barris says thats how you know its an original car is the textured finish,also,,the barris brothers got thier start in the roseville california are,which is close to me,and Mr Candy apple red,Joe Bailon lived next door to my last brother inlaws mother as they grew up( my brother in law mike,he died of brain cancer,2 years ago,his mother and baion lived next door to eachother),and mikes dad gave Bailon 50 bucks and loaned him a car to use on his honeymoon,lol,,,wierd huh?.....cool this is,,bailon holds a yearly custom car show at the fairgrounds,cars like the Herohito merc,cadzilla and other world famous show cars are there,the show is free of charge to the public and the showcars that run..drive around the fairgrounds property showing off ect......
 
Batmobile

I think that they made a couple of identical Batmobiles as extras and display cars.

I saw one of the Batmobiles at the Denver Auto Show in 1967 or 1968. It was reportedly very heavy and pretty much of a slug to drive. Don't know for sure, but that's what I heard back when I saw the car.

We just finished watching the first four Batman movies over the last week and it's interesting to see how the Batmobile has morphed into a super car with the advent of computer graphics and animation.
 
I don't know about extra cars, but George Barris built the TV Batmobile out of the 1954 Lincoln Futura show/concept car that I posted the pic of.

I studied under George Barris while going thru high school.....
Their is only the one batmobile.....Ford made a version of the car years ago....this is most likly the car you seen.....
As with all of George's cars...They are all one of a kind, from his mind to finished product.....This is why you never see any original sketches from him....He always knew what he wanted the car to look like before he started working on it.....P.S. The Munsters Coach is 3, 1927 General motors Hursts built into one vehicle.

Unfortunatly, the batmobile from the TV series can not be shown in public untill the law suit with the studio is final.....Warner bros say they have all rights to the batmobile because it was made for the series.....So untill then she sits under a tarp in the basement of the Barris shop.
