Weird Stuff tonite at KRDU........

So I'm watching football tonite, and take a break out in the back-yard to pee (about 11:30pm). As I'm watching an airliner on a long final, I notice two more aircraft with VERY BRIGHT landing lights appear on the base leg, turn on final, and rapidly close on the airliner. These two aircraft are close together in the 10:00 and 4:00 positions. It seemed like once they had an established final, the landing lights were turned off and only very faint position lights were visible as they climbed out (without a sound). Within about 30 seconds, two more appeared, set up on final, and then basically disappeared. This was followed by four more pairs and two singles with approximately the same time intervals.

So I run inside and check out FlightAware/Flight Tracker. RDU looked like a ghost town...........nothing within miles !!!

I'm thinkin' military training..........but what have we got that is silent ??

LD

PS...........These boys were at pattern altitude, or lower, and silent !!

What you just experienced is seeing a UFO my friend :jump: Ahhh I want to see them. I'm telling you If I see them, all these things about big foot, lochness monster, the paranormal will be classified as true in my book or any other myths.

I live near Beale AFB and see that sort of thing all the time, only without landing lights. Had one of them fly over me on a back road one night. It had it's nav lights on and it was at about 1500ft with no sound what so ever.:cost1:

Budgets what they are, I guessing they're practicing their dead-stick skills for when they run out of gas.

I'd think aliens would have better budgeting skills than that. But then again, if they really are smarter than us, why would they waste their time by coming here???

To bring more of their idiots to occupy the planet with the descendants of idiots they brought thousands of years ago. :icon_lol:

Sorry, I meant our Air Force flyboys might run out of gas, not aliens. Aliens are, well, aliens cause they never run out of gas.

There is all kinds of stuff up there. One that kept me riveted to the telly for 100+ hrs non stop was during the first Hubble repair mission. NASA turned on the camera feeds live, no delay or edits or cut-aways, and ran a feed from a big LLTV scope when nothing else was going on, also live. First and last time for that! Too much stuff caught on camera that could not be expained away as 'swamp gas ignited by ball lightning reflecting the planet Venus off a weather balloon...'
One bit of kit I bought years ago has been invaluable for Foo Fighter finding, an old ex-soviet 1PN58 night scope. Now, cascade-type image amp devices are everywhere and cheap, indespensable and you really would not beleive how much really weird stuff is in the air, especially around AF installations, Dams, NPP's, and , for some weird reason, big HV hydro line causeways. I'd still like to know what (and how) does a instantaneous 180' turn at 600+kts. One notable incident at VYR in october '94- 7 in the morning, CAVU, 100's of eyes on target, ATC eyeballing it, radar skin paint. A big, black seahorse shaped object drifting UPWIND across the button of rnwy 23 and over Russ Baker way. Shut down the runway for 10 minutes untill 'it' was clear. I rang up the tower to ask if they had it- hence confromation of radar paint. Got a terse '...Uhnn...yah. We see it. Do you want to file a report?' I said ' Umm. No, thats fine' Came the reply 'Yah, we'll skip that too...'
Made the hair stand up on the back of my neck.
Any way . This might help identify 'it' The Air Force uses it all the time....View attachment 52563

Love that chart. Just as good as the "Journalists' Guide to Firearms Identification"
