FS2004 Fairey Firefly AS 5 and Mk 6

I am prob having a senior moment here but am unable to open the psp image files. tried both paint shop pro 7 and gimp and get error message and templates refuse to open.

That's unfortunate and, I don't think it has anything to do with age :) . Years ago I bought a version of Paint Shop Pro version 8 to do band posters. I've been using that ever since to do FS artwork. Could it be that 8 has some security or graphics features that 7 doesn't have? If you can you find an upgrade to 8 reasonably priced, that might/should work. Gimp, I don't know, I don't have that.

Edit: Also, make sure you unzip the main file as in, don't try and open the psp file from a zipped state. I don't know if that helps you, just thought I'd mention.

I tried them using both PSP7 & PSP 11.

They worked fine in 11 but not in 7 and I believe I've come across this problem before.

Resaving them in PSP11 as PSP7 compatible solved it for me last time.

The only other problem I did have was that I don't have some of the fonts included in the PSP files.

Cheers

Paul

Yes, a great resource but a VERY annoying site. These files are small and there should be a download all option. As it stands now, you must wait between downloads.

EDIT: LOL you can't download them all, looks like a project, terrible way to run a site.

I hope so too. I'm having a go at this livery, but I can't find a photo of the underside markings. These yellow banded Fireflies were target tow planes. Does anyone know of a shot?

Doug, Here ya go:

Here is a couple of screenshots. I worked on this one yesterday most of the day, still, the stripes need work. I'm happy with the results so far. Since there are maybe 3 pictures of Fireflies with this paint scheme online, and 1 illustration, some of this is guess work. So it's fictional based on reality...or something similar like that.

New 'n Shiny

Well OK there's a bit of exhaust stain ... but a lot prettier than that sad old thing in your photo above!

most target tugs wore that scheme to aid in identification so you didn't shoot the tug and not the target :icon_lol:

i think it's safe to say the scheme would have been put onto the Firefly :icon_lol:
