There seems to be an up tick in Political commentary in recent months. Those of us who are long time members of the site we know that Political and Religious content has been banned for years. Nothing has changed. Please leave all political and religiours commentary out of the fourms.
If you recently joined the forums you were not presented with this restriction in the terms of service. This was due to a conversion error when we went from vBulletin to Xenforo. We have updated our terms of service to reflect these corrections.

It was a pleasure to be a part of your venture, Milton.
I sincerely hope everyone enjoys the Avia 156 and Avia 51 Package.
My paintshop doors are always open if I have the time.
In the future, I just might revisit the 156 for a little updating.

Now if I can muster the drive to tackle the English panel, I really want to enhance it. I know what I want to do, but all my attempts have been without satisfaction without having to do a lot of fiddling.
If anyone can pass along any pointers or different methods to try, I would cater to trying again.

It's always fun to personalize panels. Keep in mind that anything you do on the panel face regarding highlights, shadows, etc. restricts gauge size, swaps, and movement (without repainting adjustments).
The question is for me, once you have the gauges you want as you want in the places you want, how does one shadow the background for those gauge placements. And for that matter, how to appropriately place placards and other textural information with respect to switches or dials locations. :isadizzy:
I figured out an easy (er) way to do the panels. And it works very nicely once I got everything sorted. First attempt, 95% of my enhancements were dead on and aligned. As a test I've applied a stroked circle around all the gauges on VC01, and placed the sim-icons on a black backing plate. Not an over sized backing plate, but one that enhances the icons just beyond the squares. I'll show a snapshot of the VC once I get it the way I want it.
That definitely improves the 3D appearance OB. Very nice!
Looks to be very exacting work too. The center panel with the closeness of the gauges could be a challenge but they could be spaced out.
How would you approach the lighting highlights? All from one direction, varied by panel position, less from under the glareshield than lower on the panel?

The center panel does need some alignment tweaks for sure. And the rectangular gauges could be better arranged for equal sizes to better that appearance as one raised surface.
The differentiating lighting I didn't mess with due to having to raster every single time. And like you said, they need to be re-adjusted if I am going to get fussy.

Just curious, have you tried receding the gauges rather than "raising" them?
Also keep in mind to avoid any 0,0,0 black because of "see-through" issues. If you end up going to 8-bit for a final product, you would be safe to be at 8,8,8 as the darkest color.

Actually, I was waiting for you to say something to the affect of "I'll adjust them for better appearance and spacing, and give you the updated gauge layout" LOL!!!
No, I know what you mean. And I don't mind because it gives me something else to better the entire project. I had originally intended to recess the gauges, then just went with the stamped trim-ring look.
I'll do a little more playing around and see what I can come up with.
LOL Well, since there are 2 - 2D panels and 2 - VC panels with 3 sections for each aircraft (8 per aircraft), I am a little slow to step up to the plate.

Get polishing OleBoy, I'm keeping y'ol company at the back of the shed... promise I won't make too much din, but our 'Engineer' really has really pulled out the stops on the New Kid on the Block, so excuse the odd spanner clunk and cylinder back-fire!
Reckon we might have to 'ask' the Chief to fry us some Sunday chicken...anything, to slow him down for us 'polishers' to catch up.
I always seem to have a, loving relationship with whatever I put my hands on. One of my worst faults actually. I find that I have to focus specifically on one repaint from start to finish or I have a tendency to wander off track. Fortunately this particular aircraft had a life of basically one "look", but several registrations. That made things easier.
