P-3 Thread continued...

For the USN vets . .

What would a typical long range patrol altitude be for a PC-3? Also, what routes/patterns would they fly eg one NAS to another or a circular route ending at the point of origin? Any other comments re the flight profile eg operating IAS, engine shutdown etc would be useful to know.

KBT,

Can we please have the option of toggling weapons visible or not on the pylons? 95% of the time, the P-3s don't have ordinance on the pylons...

Kent

Although it is not enough for this release, it is made the candidate of the next update.
Since it is the gimmick performed by Mitsibishi F-2A model, it may be possible.

does this work with the engine smoke already installed?..or do i need to "//" out the engine smoke?

I have it setup so that engine smoke appears at 30%+ throttle and retardant dump using cockpit switch. If both effects are used in the [smokesystem], then both will be activated, so that's not going to work.

Not a problem setting this up... let me know. TuFun

Hey Bruce, this might interest you also.

Setting up the retardant dump switch. Make sure you added the SOH-S2TCDF retardant effects including sound.

Open the aircraft.cfg file and add the last four lines light.5 thru light.8 in the [LIGHTS] section. This will tie it to the taxi lights.

[LIGHTS]
Types: 1=beacon, 2=strobe, 3=navigation, 4=cockpit, 5=landing, 6=Taxi, 7=Recognition, 8=?, 9=Logo, 10=?

light.0= 9, 30.0, -0.50, -2.6, fx_Shockwave_landing_light
light.1= 9, 30.0, 0.50, -2.6, fx_Shockwave_landing_light
light.2= 7, -4.0, -25.00, 0.50, fx_Shockwave_landing_light
light.3= 7, -4.0, 25.00, 0.50, fx_Shockwave_landing_light
light.4= 4, 32.27, 0.00, 5.070, fx_vclight_p3,
//light.5= 3, -0.30, -51.60, 4.36, fx_navred,
//light.6= 3, -0.30, 51.60, 4.36, fx_navgre,

light.5 = 6, 4.5, 0, -4, fx_MS_fire_retardant
light.6 = 6, 4.5, 0, -4, fx_MS_fire_retardant
light.7 = 6, 4.5, 0, -4, fx_MS_fire_retardant
light.8 = 6, 4.5, 0, -4, fx_MS_fire_retardant

The switch to activate the retardant dump is located here in the pic...

Flip the switch up will activate the retardant dump and you should hear a rushing sound. Once the sound is done, flip the switch down for the next drop.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

For the engine smoke effects, you will need a smoke effects gauge. Link: http://flyawaysimulation.com/downloads/files/15397/fsx-beechcraft-18ds-auto-smoke-gauge/

Follow the Readme/Installation text file and you are set. You can change the timing of the smoke by changing this number in the xml file.

In the example throttle to 60%+, will activate smoke.
Example: A:GENERAL ENG1 THROTTLE LEVER POSITION,percent) 60 > if{ (>K:SMOKE_ON) } els{

NOTE: KBT TEAM... any possibility of a dedicated cockpit switch for the fire retardant dump?

I'd like to know if there is a possibility of a working APU for this bird. That was one of the first things I was trained to operate in VP-0919 and it was not uncommon to have two or three aircraft turning their APUs while doing pre-flights and such. You also needed it to start up the engines unless you really wanted to mess with a huffer and NC-8 cart. Not sure if it can be done on this bird but FSX does have that capability for airplanes to have an APU installed and working.

One more thing, GE thanks for putting up the 19 & 91 textures, they look great.

Is there anywhere to get this besides the skydrive link? Every time I click on the link it gives me an error and states the file isn't available.

Too bad I stumbled on this so late... but I fully intend to catch up. Lovin' the P-3! But will I be able to get it to work in P3D2.1??

My uncle flew P-2's and P-3's throughout the course of his Naval career (including two tours in 'Nam.) I need to find which units he was assigned to in WestPac and request those unit skins/paints be made... Would really make his day if I were able to present him some really nice screenshots of P-3's in his unit's markings.

The wing light is not applied in this P-3 series. Therefore, only it is for the effect and this switch can be used.

Where is the file in above link located for the V3 P3? It looks like a mdl file. Can you provide any specific information as to what needs to be done for this file to work.

It is an interior model that it is in the linked Websites.
The file of the same name exists in the P-3C_ORION_FSX "model" folder . Please exchange it.
