P-3 Thread continued...

NC, I am not a scenery designer, just a bit of an amateur modder!

FSX KNUW is available over at simviation.com. Search also for a discussion of it over at the MAIW forums. Someone there posted an AFCAD/ADE file that has MAIW military parking. As and when I find the time to pluck out all those Pesky Prowlers, I can posted my modified ADE here.

I also have the old FS9 payware USS Enterprise parked off shore with AI Whales, Skyhawks, etc departing Whidbey then doing TNG's off the deck of the boat and returning to KNUW. Good fun.

Gray Eagle and anyone else who would like to make your own paints for the KBT P-3; I have made a layered paint kit for the v3 textures. I have contacted KBT and it's my understanding he approves of my sharing it. The paint kit is for the left and right fuselage, left and right wings, fuselage bottom, engines, and a full fuselage body .bgl to assist in alignment of the fuselage panels. The paintkit is available in photoshop format (.psd) and GIMP format (.xcf). The zipped files are 10M and 13M. (If the files end up being too big for email I can split them)

If you are interested just PM with your email.

Joe

Joe,

Just to let you know that the Fix file you emailed me is in GIMP format. Request Photoshop (PSD) format please. Not sure what the fix is about as the older psd looks ok to me.
Thanks.

GE, I left out the exhaust on the details layer. I use both GIMP and Photoshop and didn't pay close enough attention when I sent the "fix". :stupid: The fixed fix has been sent.

As an aside, I had to go over to Charlottesville for some dog food this afternoon. The shopping center is next to the airport (KCHO). There was a P-3 shooting approaches as I got there.
I've seen Coastie C-130's and Army H-60's use CHO, but this was the first time for an Orion.

Project Magnet P-3 Skin

I finally got all my 'stuff in one sock' and uploaded the first of the planned VXN-8 aircraft. Hope it suits.

AEW will be completed soon.
This model is the exterior only.

Two models were necessary because of the texture assign.

The model of RP-3D was created according to the data which jmbiii repainted.
However, it is a simple model of the RP-3D style.

A part of texture which he created is corrected.
The data changed or added is formatted in BMP.

RP-3D package (P-3C FSX is required)

Updated because there was a failure of FDE.

I do have one question. I noticed that when the flaps are raised or lowered, the areas I circled in red also open and close, is that normal and if so why?

I did some research on the RP-3D and found this info from wikipedia:

RP-3D

One P-3C modified on production line to optimize MAD capabilities. Aircraft did extensive MAD surveys and was painted "Project Magnet". In 1973, an RP-3D was instrumental in pinpointing the wreckage of Civil War ironclad USS Monitor.

So, other then the orange and white paint job, I get the impression the changes where internal and nothing external was changed from the standard P3-C yes? It should have the
same flight characteristics.

So why did the Flight Dynamics Engine (FDE) need to be changed? IMHO, it seemed to fly quite well. The FDE did not fail for me.

I have seen this aircraft on the USN/USAF ramp at Christchurch a few times, this fella really gets around .. this is 158227 ?

I just finished the conversion of the US Customs P3 and just finished uploading here. Avail here http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/local_links.php?catid=3&linkid=18175

Nice paint!
A small observation: I believe the customs guys fly the A and B models without the sonobuoy battery as is so noticeable on the Charlie (and this model). The same goes for the NASA bird, N927NA, this NP-3A is an A model, definitely without the sonobuoy battery. For the realism it might be a good option to at least mention it is not the correct model for the depicted aircraft. Not criticism, just some thoughts :)

It is starting to be quite an line up of P-3s, thank you!

As you already have made the P-3B for the CBP birds, is it possible to get an early gen Bravo with the searchlights and correct sonobuoy launcher as well?

Thanks for your observations, I am not the author of this repaint and I do not take credit for it either; I only made it compatible with the V3 KBT P-3.
No repainting was done on my part except for maybe the landing gear doors (if necessary.) I don't think the author mentions anything about the correct model either. :adoration:

When I made a package of RP-3D, the enclosed has done the air file of an old version.
Because there was something wrong with the work of the elevator when I used the file, I exchanged it because on investigation it was an old version.

The animation which you showed is not trouble.:untroubled:

OK, thanks for explaining that. So, the air files for the other P3's are just fine. yes?

Mata atode aimashou! またあとで会いましょう! :adoration:

(See you later)

Whoa ! Okay, I'm home, had a drink:very_drunk: to calm my body, do I have to do anything to continue with the VXN-8 repaints ?
I haven't looked at what KBT posted yet. The paints I did as .dds, do they need to be .bgl ? I can do both.
As noted, the exterior is the same except there are no weapon pylons. I've not seen any pics of the planes that clearly show the bottom., whether or not
the sonobuoy tubes were present. Sort of a moot question as the aircraft RP-3A, BuNo 150500 and 149667 have been scrapped
and NP-3D 158227 is at AMARC. Plus it's been twenty (20) years since the squadron was disestablished.

EDIT: more than one drink ! Going to bed.

You can draw the hole of a sonobuoy using p3_fuseb_t.
It is possible to draw a size, a position, etc. of a hole correctly. :jump:
