Naval Aviation Humor

Charlie Jones, ya gotta like THIS post! NC

I like some of the gripes that the pilots wrote and the Maintenance sign offs:

GRIPES & GRINS

Problem: Something loose in cockpit.
Solution: Something tightened in cockpit.

Problem: Dead bugs on windshield.
Solution: Live bugs on order.

Problem: Engine #3 missing.
Solution: Engine #3 found on right wing after brief search.

Problem: Aircraft handles funny.
Solution: Aircraft warned to straighten up, fly right, and be serious!

This one is just great:

Problem: Test Flight OK, except auto land very rough.
Solution: Auto land not installed on this aircraft.

Thanks for this post Grey Eagle!

For all of the stomping out of traditions going on around the fleet today I think IYAOYAS will be the one thing they can never get rid of. I remember being in A school in Pensacola and that is all the AO kids would talk about, and a good many would get it tattood on themselves. Although I can't really say much cause in the Airframes community we have our fair share that get the hammers and wings tattood as well, lol.. This site is the funniest collection of stuff I've seen in awhile: https://twitter.com/****mylposays . Always gives me a good chuckle whenever I am having a bad day in the fleet.

The Keystone Kops are alive and well; they joined the US aviation group and are hard at work doing (well, whatever it is they do.) !!!

Sorry, that page doesn’t exist!

Had a pilot at Pax River (Test Pilot School Instructor pilot type) who wrote up a discrepancy, "Bird Sh.t on canopy"

I got assigned to clean the canopy, and after doing so, I wrote in the Corrective Action Taken of the Maintenance Action Form (MAF): Removed Squab Excrement from Canopy Windshield Assembly"

The pilot, upon reading (MAF) prior to a subsequent flight, was not amused.

I got "talked to" by my supervisor for that one. NC

I feel sorry for that pilot; he needed to go find a sense of humor or even proportion.

I am fortunate to have very good relationships with the Wardroom thanks to FSX allowing me to understand & speak their language. I can vouch for Pete that sometimes when they write up stuff like that they are usually not to thrilled with the sign off when you write stuff like that..... I think the worst discrepancies though are the "pilot induced" ones, and then when you A799 (not valid/cannot duplicate) it they get REALLY infuriated. Some of them have zero humor, or if they do it is weird and quirky. Anymore I at least try to find the pilot, and personally explain to them why I am signing it off that way. Helps avoid the chats with the Maintenance Master Chief or Maintenance Officer, or all the other M abbreviations that are bad, lol. Stupid autopilot and AFCS gripes.. HATE them!
