• There seems to be an uptick in Political comments in recent months. Those of us who are long time members of the site know that Political and Religious content has been banned for years. Nothing has changed. Please leave all political and religious comments out of the forums.

If you recently joined the forums you were not presented with this restriction in the terms of service. This was due to a conversion error when we went from vBulletin to Xenforo. We have updated our terms of service to reflect these corrections.

Please note any post refering to a politician will be considered political even if it is intended to be humor. Our experience is these topics have a way of dividing the forums and causing deep resentment among members. It is a poison to the community. We appreciate compliance with the rules.

  • Server side Maintenance is done. We still have an update to the forum software to run but that one will have to wait for a better time.

Google Earth Pro is now free

I got it but I see no difference. There must be something new hidden in the menus somewhere. :banghead:

if it is free then why do I have to give them so much info about me.
why not just a download button?

I see your point but like most other sites you go to, I'll bet you get junk mail anyway.
I may get tons of junk mail in my mailbox too, correction, I already do. Oh well, If you were
to buy this, you'd have to go thru the same hoops. Just like is was when it was payware. They want to issue you
a license as if you paid for it. Only answer I can think of.

...because Google want to know everything about everyone. They have found that people will sign up for anything free and then they can use the data (check most smartphones for what is collected) to do a more perfect job of target advertising sales.

Having said that, I signed up (after all they already have most of my life with Android) because GEPro has some tools I wanted so it's a trade.

It is far more detailed and has more tools than the standard version. I didn't mind the registration as I am already registered with some of their services using a secondary email account.

my dad and i used it a few minutes ago to settle a dispute over a property line at his rental house...i like it...
