• There seems to be an uptick in Political comments in recent months. Those of us who are long time members of the site know that Political and Religious content has been banned for years. Nothing has changed. Please leave all political and religious comments out of the forums.

If you recently joined the forums you were not presented with this restriction in the terms of service. This was due to a conversion error when we went from vBulletin to Xenforo. We have updated our terms of service to reflect these corrections.

Please note any post refering to a politician will be considered political even if it is intended to be humor. Our experience is these topics have a way of dividing the forums and causing deep resentment among members. It is a poison to the community. We appreciate compliance with the rules.

AW38 Whitley MkVb Freighter by UncleTgt

This is a conversion of Ted Cook's Whitley MkVb for use in CFS 2. This is a complete aircraft.

The airfile was created by Peperez, & adopts the distinctive "nose-down" attitude in level flight.

The panel is a direct copy of Shessi's Whitley MkV panels, all I've done is to make it WIN 7 friendly.

The sound is aliased to the P-38F Lightning.

The texture is a BOAC freighter used for night-time runs between Gibraltar & Malta during 1942. Aircraft sometimes arrived over the Island whilst air raids were in progress. The conversion was not very successful, with a so-so payload to fuel ratio, & in the hot temperatures they suffered from engine cooling problems. They were quickly replaced on this route once US Lend-Lease Hudsons became available, & moved to UK-Sweden routes, or domestic UK routes.

To mimic the cargo weight I resized the FDG C-47 cargo crates (-20%) so they would fit inside the Whitley's fuselage & recompiled with a new name (sml_cargo_boxes)

To install, unzip the download to a temporary location & move/ copy files to the matching folder names inside your chosen CFS 2 install.

Thanks to:

Ted Cook for a great aircraft, & his willingness to support converting them for use in CFS2.

Shessi for his work at bringing older models up to code, & inventing novel solutions so CFS2 can simulate such a wide range of combat operations.

Peperez for helping with the challenge of making a more accurate airfile.

The Fightertown Design Group for their C-47 cargo payloads.

Kelticheart for his exhaust effects, & inspiration for the propeller bitmaps.

This is freeware and subject to the usual conditions
