Not in the least. In previous years, we were part of the show, and gave the public their money's worth. Last year they changed the organisers, and the new management decided they didn't need us. As we're the only half-decent WW2 RAF re-enactment group in France... We had a big display with tons of period kit and so on, which added a great deal to the atmosphere. The present lot are in the rather paradoxical position of attempting to show military aircraft without evoking the war any more than strictly necessary. It doesn't make much sense unless you're French...

That's reassuring!

The club that runs the museum is a typical French club - everybody having a go at everybody else. The pilots act like prima donnas, while the erks feel pissed-on and undervalued. Needless to say, the erks are the ones who do all the slog, but don't do the flying. The pilots are all Parisian hot-shots who think they're really cool dudes because they drive buses for Air France, when they're not on strike that is. If you think Britain has trouble with social jealousy and snobbery... I actually know a fair few of the erks, because I live only a few miles up the road and drop in from time to time... Duxford it is not...

Very nice indeed! I see some blighter bent the Butcher Bird's pitot - that wasn't you Nigel, was it???
