A different sort of screensaver just for fun

I'm not that keen on screen savers but I stumbled onto this one and found it pretty cool. If you are any sort of 2001 A Space Odyssey fan this is a site that has among other things a screen saver that displays images like those seen on computer monitors throughout the movie, including the animations.

I tried this screensaver, it took over my machine and when I left the house it would let me back in, now I'm wandering aimlessly about the neighborhood. :mixedsmi:

All these planets are yours,
except Jupiter. Attempt no landing there.
Use them together. Use them in peace...

...whoa! Frisson! What was that...

Nice one! thanks for the HU. I love that kind of stuff.

There is also a slick Star Trek LCARS screen saver...

Here's another HAL screensaver that I've been using for years on both Mac's and now my Windows 7 PC. It has some interesting little quirks to it as it's not strictly faithful to the movie 2001 (my all time favourite film, BTW); things like using aircraft and aircraft weaponry nomenclature on one of the screens (eg., AIM-9, Me-109), some graphics from the movie "Bladerunner", and for fans of another one of Kubrick's great films. Dr. Strangelove, some brief elements of that film (won't tell you where to look, you'll have to watch, but recall the scene where James Earl Jones' is trying to open the bomb-bay doors on the battle damaged B-52). Another bonus is HAL speaks on the opening of the screensaver, though it isn't Douglas Rain who was the original voice of HAL.
