A Request To The Mach 1 Design Group

Dear Mach 1 Design Team,

I have a request for new scenery for FS9, it is the old Sanford Naval Air Station Florida as it was when the navy was flying the A3D Skywairrior there. I was about 15 yrs old in 1958 and lived near there I would make a visit to the Sandford Air Station just to watch the big A3Ds taking off, then in the summer of 1958 a A3D crashed near my home, I came upon the rear tail section sitting where a house was, then I saw Marine Gaurds moving down the road and I followed them to a open empty field, there was the nose section lying on its side with the nose wheel extended, I walked up to the cockpit, the pilot was still stapped in his seat his parachute had streamed out and thank goodness it covered him. I can furnish you with a number of pictures of Sandford NAS as it was in 1958, I am surprised that with all the Florida scenery that is out there no one has done a build of Sandford NAS. Thank you for reading this

Cheers

Not surprising the pilot rode that A-3 in. :frown:
Back in the days the Whale's A3D model designator gave the plane the nickname "All Three Dead". The plane was not equipped with ejection seats so if things went bad at low altitude you were out of luck. Sanford was later home to the Heavy Attack Recon (RA-5C) community until the late 60's when they moved to NAS Albany, GA. It would be a nice addition to FS9. If I ever get my scenery skills up to speed I'd like to do my old reserve base, NAS Glenview, IL.
