Assetto Corsa.

Went back to Project Cars to check out new content, but I was back in AC after minutes.. AC runs better, drivers better and looks better imho..

Sounds almost impossible, Ferry... But i guess you must be right. I bought AC and installed it but haven't found the time to actually load it up. ( caused by getting back working with Max and a certain DC-3 cockpit... :teapot: )

Like with Pcars ,is the Lotus 49 actually the only 1960's F1 car in AC ? If affirm that's quite remarkable, isn't it...

Groeten,
Jan

For now it is, but I guess that's part of the deal they made with Lotus. The 98T will follow, another car also included in pCars.. At least they have a long list of modern Lotusses (Lotii??) including several versions of the Exige, Elise, Evora and 2-Eleven. Also just noticed they added the LaFerrari to the list, which should be fun to drive with 963 hp...
A few more cars at the lower end of the scale would be nice too, maybe an Abarth Punto SS?

Thanks, Ferry. I guess i'll have to wait for more of my beloved 1960's race monsters ( i was there at Zandvoort each year you know, that's why... ) when 'GPL 201x' will be released. Fat chance, i know... But quoting the fabulous Todd Rundgren " A dream goes on forever.. "

Still haven't had a chance to load up AC but i will as soon as this DC-3 cockpit will let me. :)

Cheers,
Jan

These games look so enticing. Maybe after 2014 modeling projects, I'll make the leap. Love racing much more than flying.

Any idea how these models are so well done? What tools are used? So realistic looking.

Who needs a DC-3 anyway....?? :a1310: (Ducks for cover while the entire SOH community grabs a pitchfork and forms an angry mob...) Besides, you need to let off steam once in a while! ;-)

Don't know about the models, but the tracks are created useing something called 'laser scanning' of the real track.
Maybe they used something similar, converting a real car to a 3D sim model?

THAT's a Driving Sim? OMG! It looks so doggone REAL!

Wow... and do the cars 'feel' like their RW counterparts?

I know we're talking HP racing cars here, but I'd LOVE to see a 1970 Challenger R/T in this format, to see how she would drive!

Hey Alan, I am just getting ready to try A/C out but GT6 does include the 1970 Challenger 440 R/T in it along with the AAR Cuda 340 Six Pack, both are great fun to throw around the track. Of course even though they have taken the racing sims to the next level with physics and graphics there is just no way to replicate the "feel" of driving the real thing...I use a wheel and set of pedals instead of the standard controller and that has made it even more immersive. We do "Trans-Am" style racing on-line where we can get a dozen guys from all over the place all racing together for a couple of hours each week-end,great fun! Ayway, here are a couple shots of the Mopars.

I wish I could tell you they all drive exactly like their real-life versions, but alas... Truth is, even the Fiat 500 Abarth in this game has more hp than my own car..

But Kunos has a great reputation for racing sims, and from what I've read most cars do seems to behave like they should.

FWIW Here's a nice video by a guy named Kurt who's testing the BMW M3 and the 599XX (After about thirteen minutes.) at two different tracks. Gives a nice impression of the game:

And a few more screenshots:

Thanks for the replies, gents!

Ferry -- that is one COOL video! With the subtle shading, the changes on the paint from sunlight to dark... awesome!

Silly me, asking about how the cars 'feel'... I know there's no force feedback, or the feeling of lateral movement; I
was thinking more on the lines of 'move the wheel, does the car react instantly?'... thinks like that.

Aircav - Awesome Mopars! Yeah, I have a bit of an affinity for Vanishing Point... especially since the 2nd lead actor
(the car) has good old CO tags on it, and in the movie you can pick out scenes in Denver of places that are still standing!

Great shots again, Noddy!

Even though the 599XX is a silly car in real life (Even though you pay a million or so, you don't get to put it in your own garage, you can't drive it on the road and there's no racing class it fits in..) I still love the simulation! The sounds and gear shifts are just brutal!

Another 'track day special' that I really love, sliding around Maggiore:

Got myself a new videocard and screen, so I can now push the graphics to the max. Still need to tweak the AA a bit though.

Lovely shots again,

What card are you using? Is there any info about using Nvidia Inspector out there?

My new card is an Asus GeForce GTX770 with 2Gb Ram. Don't know if there's a profile for Inspector available, but I usually start with my FsX profile settings and work from there.

The two new cars in the 0.5 version; the BMW 1M Coupe:

Some magazines describe it as a modern-day muscle car, and that's how it feels in the game. Lots of oversteer and tyre smoke!

And the Lotus Evora GTE:

A 420 hp road legal version of the Evora GT2. Quite a beast!
