• There seems to be an up tick in Political commentary in recent months. Those of us who are long time members of the site we know that Political and Religious content has been banned for years. Nothing has changed. Please leave all political and religiours commentary out of the fourms.

    If you recently joined the forums you were not presented with this restriction in the terms of service. This was due to a conversion error when we went from vBulletin to Xenforo. We have updated our terms of service to reflect these corrections.

    Please note any post refering to a politicion will be considered political even if it is intended to be humor. Our experience is these topics have a way of dividing the forums and causing deep resentment amoung members. It is a poison to the community. We apprciate compliance with the rules.

I know I should know this, but is there a way to stop ATC calling downloads Experimental", and use just the call sign / reg letters?
 
You need to modify the aircraft .cfg for whatever suitable identifier exists in your voicepack. For example: [General]
atc_type =Bellanca
atc_model =Viking
You need the editvoicepack program to make changes to identifiers, but a HUGE number of them are already in the stock MSFS voicepack for more popular aircraft; Just remember that one line is generally for manufacturer, and the other for Type- but it doesn't look that way lol (see above example) HTH
 
No problem! Should you need a voicepack for something specific, PM me as I have a particular fondness for creating them...I have over 3,000 currently....
 
atc_type =manufacturer (ex: Douglas)
atc_model =model (ex: DC3)

Also in the Fltsim section...

atc_id= tail number (ex: N1257C, not to exceed 7 digits/letters)
atc_airline= airline (ex: Delta)
atc_flight_number= flight number (ex: 5487, not to exceed 4 digits)

The ATC will use a combination of these for ID of the aircraft.

Most normal calls from the ATC will be using this type of combination when a non-airline flight:

atc_type + last three digits/letters of the atc_id (ex: Douglas 57C)


Unless you're in a airline flight when it should be:

atc_airline + atc_flight_number (ex: Delta 5487)


If the atc_type and atc_model are left blank, the ATC will fall back to Experimental. Also atc_type can use Experimental as the manufacturer.

When first contacting center to get your squawk number, the call out should include the type, model and tail number.
