Attention all DC-3 fans !

Breaking out an old John Wayne classic DVD

gman , all excellent paints as usual . I've always been a huge fan of the Piedmont paints . The Air Force paints reminds me of the John Wayne classic movie " Island In The Sky " . A huge crowd here at SOH anxiously awaiting this old classic with all the changes . Thanks to you gman , TuFun , and of coarse Manfred (and all others) associated with this project .:applause:

Very nice artwork G, Looking forward to when this all finally shakes out and becomes available. :encouragement:

I've had the pleasure of flying the Alpha version with TuFun's latest sound set, and yes, it is every bit as good as the videos portray.

I've been working on updating all of my original skins to 4096 32bit renderings. I've also gone back and upgraded much of my original work to incorporate new techniques for polished metal and DX 10/11/12 light rendering. There are also going to be a few new skins from me for the JVVC version.

The upgraded bump and specular files will be generic for all current and previous paints made for the airplane. I'll make the support files available when the airplane releases.

The good news is that this plane, even with Jan's incredible cockpit art and the high def skins, makes solid 50+FPS over my maxed out sceneries with the sliders at WFO. The plane performs very well.

Some caps for now, but a video will really be necessary to show the light rendering at it's best. That's coming shortly.

Prepar3D 3.2 straight screen caps no post process

Jan Visser VC for Manfred Jahn's C-47. Alpha Version

Skins:
I promised that I would show the high def skins in motion...this video features surround views of three high definition skins for FSX, FSX ST and P3D. The textures are 4096x4096 @32 bit with multi layered color, specular and alpha applications that come together quite nicely in P3Dv3.2 to create color nuance and depth at an entirely new level for flight simulation. Kudos to the LM Dev team.

Sound:
I've focused on Ted Wolfgang's incredible sound set. The camera moves around the airplanes, showcasing the wide range of sound dynamics TF has developed for the JVVC C-47. Un-bee-leiv-a-ble TEd.

Loation: KBIH Eastern Sierra Regional Airport.
A work in progress nearing completion and a release of it's own, KBIH features dynamic vegetation, high definition light sensitive ground textures and hyper accurate hand annotated autogen. Every tree and building in Bishop, CA has been placed by hand to match high definition satellite imagery.
The autogen and HD library vegetation are created using a proprietary technology I developed that dramatically improves system/simulator performance.

Performance:
For the video I run locked 30 to synch with the recording software. The scenery and airplane should be a rock crusher, but in my system FPS remains rock solid. When un-restricted, FPS hovers @ mid thirties around the airport and jumps to 50-75 in the air. The only scenery glitches I occasionally get are some minor stutters when the HD satellite scenery moves past the camera quickly at certain angles. Pumping up the GPU should take care of that.

Music:
...intentionally over the top, just for fun. :untroubled:

All of the elements of the aircraft are coming into focus and nearing a Beta version, then release as Jan Visser completes the cockpit/instrument modeling and the "team" works out other details.

Purely for your enjoyment.....

This just looks so real "G"!!! That Super DC3 is my favorite! Awesome job on this video! :encouragement:

Thanks TEd. I thought you might appreciate a second sound perspective outside of your THX. My JBL based system sounds just wild at volume.
Yeah, the Super-3 is just toooo sexy for words. Manfred has not updated the model yet for the new release, but hopefully he will consider it. The LAC skin in the video still needs a lot of work to bring it into focus, but I couldn't resist showing the airplane in all of it's muscular beauty...high def.

After a few hours of intense listening, the only thing I would look at is the ambient wind rush when engines are shut down/feathered in flight. Things are very quiet in that condition. :encouragement:

I look into that and boost the wind noise and maybe some mechanical sounds too. If it's external that maybe the cones so I will probably need to expand the angles.

Update: Next revision 3.26.16 will be this weekend.

Ya know you guys and the developers who keep pushing the envelope are the reason FSX is still the flight simulator of choice. It should have died some time back, but it just keeps getting better and better, more immersive than anything before it!Thank you, all of you, who work so hard to make this community and this simulator so much fun.Ted

May I ask what addons (if any) do you use for the cockpit "shaking" while on the ground ?

EZDok Camera finally re-emerged and updated their software to a stable version, rather than the beta I struggled with for a long time. I also used OPUS for a while, but the EZDok camera movement is much more fluid and more to my liking. The new stable version will work in P3D, up to and including v3.2, as well as FSX.

Be sure to read the manual...the install needs to be done by the book, and setting up the head movement is easier with the manual handy.

BTW, does the Gooney Bird's manifold pressure now change with a change in RPM? Flew from San Diego up to Edwards AFB yesterday to get some time in the YB-49 and enjoy the new ORBX/FTX SoCal scenery, and noticed that pulling manifold pressure back a couple inches low so it would be just right as the props come back didn't work. MP stayed right where it was. A little experimenting showed they aren't coupled. To be clear, fixing this if it's not implemented is not a reason to delay release as far as I'm concerned!

This may explain that bug with the MP and RPM issues. That is why I went the route I did with the C-47 sounds. Prefer the radial and props sounds synced together.

Now if someone can program the fix that A2A did with Accu-Sim!

P.S. The "Biplane Rides" sign we see during your south to north low pass at Orcas Island is on Rod 'Magic' Magnor's hangar. He flew A-7s in 'Nam, hung out with Richard Bach, and operated a Travel Air, same years as our "new" one (1929). Our "old" one (1927) was licensed the same day Lindbergh flew across the Atlantic, as a matter of fact.

This link is to an older version. Apparently the only place it is kept up to date is with Flight 1.
According to the EzDok forum, version 1.18.7 has just been released. I switched to OPUS last year and am still using it but find it more awkward to set up than EzDok. I was hoping EzDok would finish (finally) version 2 but ....... in the meantime my plan is to reinstall it and try this 1.18.7 version.

It's there, but you have to go about it in a around about way which leads to the Flight 1 site.

Main page....
Version 1.16.0 is now available

Next page....
EZdok Camera addon is now available at Flight1 online shop. <- Click on this link will get you the current version.

Awesome video Gman,

Are the landing lights default or is that the effect of Shockwave Light Redux?

Thanks man,

Yeah, the landing lights are Shockwave with all of the A2A updates current.

LM fixed the particle effects that broke the Shockwave lights in the earlier versions. In P3D 3.2 the lights are working as designed and make a world of difference.
