Attention all DC-3 fans !

Audacity can do text to speech?

That would solve a bit of a problem since I need to redo the crew voices for an aircraft and don't want to use my voice.

Nope, but you can always record that google translator lady.

Actually, don't.

I have a feeling that however bad a human may sound, it's gonna be better than a computer.

I do believe when the Team finishes the DC-3 I will recreate this type of flight:
AMERICAN AIRLINES DOUGLAS DC-3 TRANSCONTINENTAL FLIGHT 1940s AVIATION 85094

Hope I do a better job of it:
A damn interesting post, there was a very similar crash 3 July 1963 were a NAC DC-3 crashed in the Kaimai Rangers here in New Zealand with the loss of 23 passengers and crew.

Believe it or now, I've figured out a solution involving Ivona (free to use) and Audacity. Zero Euros spent.

Not happy with the static noise in the background though. Might need a lower frequency.

I could not remember what the name of that program was that a used 5-6 years ago but that was it...Ivona with various voices. Wasn't free at all then but that was years ago. I am glad that you found something. If you want to program the announcements to operate off a switch press, check out Marcus Thompson's FDSFX free at AVSIM and FLIGHTSIM. Though it was developed for FS9 which is what I started using it on, it can be added to an FSX panel because it is XML gauges and .wav files and the switches CAN be set to activate what 21 different announcements YOU want. It was designed for Boeing jets but I have reprogrammed it for the EMB120, CRJs, ERJs and ATRs by changing the plate and what announcements I programmed the 21 switches to play. It is quite versatile with a little experience. I even programmed an extra 7 switches for my plate to have a total of 28 announcements by Captain, FO and Cabin Crew. And I don't get any commission on the download LOL, its free.

There's a 250 character limit per input, but you can simply refresh the page and continue after you're done with round one. If you ever need to record voices, use this page and have Audacity record from your WASAPI loopback output to obtain the audio and then edit from there. Fairly easy.

Thanks for the tip, but, to quote a mediocre installment of the Star Wars saga: You underestimate my (XML) power. I want to integrate this into the panel and simply provide a global toggle for those who prefer to fly in silence. (Just like on the DC-3.)

Great to see that the Dak takes on form.

Will it be the one with -92 (aka S1C3G) or -94 (high blowers) engines? Will the flight dynamics match performance and engine control charts? I possess the NZNAC manual for the DC-3C (-92) and I am always disappointed with how the default MS flight dynamics behave. I prefer the Mark Beaumont upgrade even for the Manfred Jahn model. I know that FD are a science of its own, however, I wonder what is done here in that respect.

Have fun and may the Force Be With You!
I thought that WASAPI was that very hot and spicy Japanese mustard for sushi! Just kidding, LOL.

DC-3 video

Here's a very short video of the limo that took us to our wedding in 1992. My bride is the one in flight-jacket and RayBans. (Yes, she's a pilot too.) Note the left front cabin floor, just behind the cockpit bulkhead, is cargo strapped to the floor.

The pilot was Captain Cloud, and that really was his name--the perfect start to a fairytale wedding. His brother, with the same last name of course, flew with me several years later in our SNJ in San Diego, that's how I know his name really was Cloud.
Just one more reason why I'm in love with this Gooney Bird. (But don't tell her I said so) :a1089:

I noticed this thread seems to go for a week or two..and then NOTHING for a couple weeks...figured id ask...any updates?

Since this is a spare time and team effort, progress is naturally quite slow. Just sit tight.

Yes, there is a great deal of hard work going on behind the scenes by all the developers involved and the VVC and aircraft model are better and better each time.
There is also a lot of testing and refinement and I expect that the finished product will indeed be the masterpiece it always promised to be.

This is the latest version of the VVC.

and this is a test flight in progress in Austria.

So far, four people have this repaint, is there any interest in adding it to the catalogue?
This is the aircraft it is based on, once owned by the Wrigley family.

Hello Dennis,
Yes but it's a complete remake, perhaps a week's work from scratch.
The other was for the MAAM DC3, if you remember.

Yes, it's beautiful. Are you ever going to quit fiddling with it and release it ? You've been torturing us for years.
