Attention all DC-3 fans !

When it's done, it will still only be the beginning of the finishing. I would expect that the old girl will experience another round of enthusiastic skinning. :adoration:

DoubleJ,

Its actially a C-47 the military version of the DC3 and it is ready already fro quite a while and can be found here: http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/showthread.php?83101-FSX-Douglas-C-47-V2-zip

This model comes with a modern (well at my age you consider this modern) cockpit. Javis is currently working on a highly detailed vintage cockpit. Wheich is ongoing, but still needs to be finished. The model of the VC is done and so are most of the textures. The most difficult part, the coding, is still on going and some instruments still need to be done.

gman5250 is currently working on an improved set of high definition metal skins and Tufun is working on a improve sound set for this model.

So when you want to fly it, everything is already there. When you want to have the model as you can see and hear it in this thread you need to be patient.

Cheers,
Huub

While the team works out the final details on the airplane, I thought I'd post up a much improved quality video of the Manfred Jahn, Jan Visser, Ted "TF" Wolfgang collaboration. Please forgive the Power Director watermark at the beginning, I am evaluating the "upgrade" version, which resolves the Nvidia driver issues that caused stutters in the previous video.

The Cockpit
This video focuses on the interior model @ normal operating procedures, while placing the flying model in a highly photo realistic simulator environment. Pay particular attention to Mr. Visser's use of bump and specular mapping on the interior parts, creating exquisite light rendering on metal and fabric components, while maintaining excellent performance in FSX and Prepar3D.

The video is shot in Prepar3D 2.5, which IMHO, renders color better than 3.1 (at its current state of development) and is offered as a tribute to Jan Visser's magnificent work, which I have been privileged to beta test.

Location:
KMMH, Mammoth Yosemite Airport to KBIH, Eastern Sierra Regional Airport, both works in progress but presentable. The vegetation library is also WIP and closing in on RTM status. Autogen is a prototype I have been developing for quite some time, which renders trees and vegetation in a more natural fashion when used over CG or satellite photo imaging.
Note: KMMH runway elevation is 7135 ft. and thus requires a leaner mixture at TO, which may be noted during run up.

The route takes the flight out of KMMH, west to the "Silver Divide", then east southeast down the range towards KBIH Bishop, CA . The scenery, which covers approximately 200 sq. miles, is an example of what can be accomplished using high definition satellite imaging and hyper accurate autogen placements.

Note 2: This is the sound set that came with the original release of the MJ DAK, not the new TF WIP sound set previewed in the videos above.

Please enjoy the video while we anticipate the finished work.

AWESOME sights and sounds! Thank you gman for this truly stunning video. :encouragement:

Truly Spondooly Gordo :encouragement: my first flight in the Dak was practically on is 50th birthday and in the jump seat from Christchurch to Wellington and back to Christchurch on a freight run ... now that was fun , help with the loading , get in the aircraft via the cockpit door ... last flight in the DC-3 was into Wanaka for the 2004 airshow .. the return trip was in the return trip from Wanaka to Wigram was in the jump seat ... funny when Trish said "any body want a ride in the" ... I think she had not finished the sentence :running: and with a cloud of dust :adoration:

Thought you guys might want to hear the latest build... play that Dak music!!!

Even Jan's little dancing compass is enjoying the rumble! :biggrin-new:

Good Lord that sounds great!!!

Question....I noticed when you throttled back on landing the sound went right back to idle.
Would the RPM not actually be a bit higher from the props windmilling??

CK

Good question. It seems FSX sound engine doesn't have that type of physics when wind force effects on props at different speeds. Could be wrong though. :adoration:

Doesn't work on this model. May want to check other aircraft to see if windmilling works.

Excellent freeware project that seemingly will put many payware ones to shame when released... Thank you very much, guys! :redfire:

Update: Radial sounds! Created a mix of new sounds and testing those in this engine run-up video.
