AW P-38J

AW P-38J & P-38L 1.0

No permission to download
Very nice plane, again! 😎👍 I took it for a few flights this evening and really enjoy it.
I did encounter the engine start problem like Browncoat with the original airfile (haven't tried the updated ones yet). I think it is due to the rather low idle rpm. If you open the throttles to around 15% the engines will start alright. Once they are running you can close the throttles again and they will keep running.
Once again, thanks for another great airplane!

Howdy Andrew and Uncle. Now I am sorry about the confusion I caused. When I said the RPM gauge was missing, I was referring to the fact that it was not being displayed on the 2D panel or in the VC.

The gauge itself is in the gauge folder in the P-38 download file. The panel config file just didn’t reference the correct gauge. Editing the panel config fixes the issue. Now I have to double check, but when I tried it a few minutes ago I recall only seeing one engine needle, and not two like I would expect to see. I will check that.

Now for the airfiles, I tried both of the adjusted ones, and still experienced the temperamental engine issue. The engines start, but the for what ever reason shortly quit.

Browncoat, see my post above! 😉 The engines will start and keep running. You just need to open the throttles a little.

@skylane That is totally correct. I was being lazy when I was first working with the P-38. I didn't want to drag my throttles out, so I was using pure keyboard and mouse.

You need to use the new Generic P-38 gauge (ver 1.1 update) with the modified panel.cfg files. The AW P-38_RPM gauge does not display the RPM correctly.

You also need to change the gauge to Generic P-38!Dbl_Eng_RPM_1_and_2 in the panel.cfg files.

[Window00]

gauge18=Generic P-38!Dbl_Eng_RPM_1_and_2, 940,809,97

[Vcockpit03]

gauge01=Generic P-38!Dbl_Eng_RPM_1_and_2, 360,240,260
