Beware the Garden Gnome!

OBIO

Retired SOH Admin
I have voiced my prejudice against Garden Gnomes a few times over the years. I believe that Garden Gnomes, behind their cute chubby faces, are serious threats to the world economy, national stability and the world-wide diamond market. Many feel that my prejudice and unease about Garden Gnomes is unfounded....but I now have photographic proof to support my beliefs.

Earlier today, I spent some time working in the flower garden...digging up over grown plants, dividing them and resetting them in new areas. Once I had all the plant work done, I set out all the garden ornamentation...including the dastardly Garden Gnome. As soon as he was freed from the garden shed and loose in the garden, I caught the little bugger in the act of stealing the diamond from my garden.

So, beware the Garden Gnome! They are out to get us and our stuff.

OBIO

The plants in the pic are:

At 3 o'clock: Hosta, Golden Tiera variety

6:30ish, quarter to 7: Stone Wall Cress, Snow Cap variety

10ish: Columbine of some sort

1:30ish: Hosta, not sure what the variety is, but it is my fave...a bluish green color.

You're showing a definite prejudice against Garden Gnomes. - Gnomeaphobia. They can't help it, they were born that way.
I say let the Gnomes have their way with the garden. I refuse to pick up a shovel or a fork to harm the little fellas. In fact, I've thrown away my pruning shears. Let them do their thing with the Garden and you and the Gnomes will both be happy.

my favorite was watching John Cleese in faulty towers
with a garden gnome

OBIO,....................I can't understand your prejudice against Garden Gnomes. No,..I don't have any around my house. But heck,...look at the little tyke you posted. He's happy, he's content,...he's at peace with himself. We all should feel that way......and,...as we well know,...Garden Gnomes are noted for 'lifting things.' The way I look at it,...it was your fault in having the diamond out there in the first place. You know he'd go for it if when you had your back turned.....Polynesians did the same thing to the early explorers such as James Cook. It's in their culture........

You must leave them alone! When they are not being used for Travelocity commercials, I keep them chained up in a room in front of computers, finding and replacing information in our databases without having to run one of those expensive (in CPU time) update queries.

They don't complain too much, and live on a diet of airline peanuts and coke served in little plastic cups. My customers think I am wonderful, not knowing a roomful of gnomes is doing all the work.

* Ha! * Got in before closed. . . you know, the racism and all that. .
:running:

It's hard to classify the comments as 'racist' when we all know GG's are a separate species - unique, ubiquitous and far from endangered (except on an individual level).
I had two mysteriously emigrate to my yard a couple of years ago. One may have expired as he's face-down in the mud right now but is being monitored. My only beef is that they do not keep the missionaries with pamphlets away

All it is going to take is one of them to complain for me to close this thread.

Of course, he will have to complain in person. Little suckers have been know to get others to do the dirty work for them.

I have voiced my prejudice against Garden Gnomes a few times over the years.

Oh good grief!!!

Next thing you'll see is someone saying they are prejudiced against cavemen!!! :icon_lol:

:icon_lol:I could be a garden gnome....but I'm not. Where's House Hobbit? He claims to literally look like a gnome.

i am suddenly remembering this woman's house on the edge of our neighborhood many years ago.
she had dozens of yard gnomes and other little creatures like baby dragons, oddly human looking squirrels, inchworms with glasses, etc. her yard looked like some bizzare fantasy land, that a tornado blew her house into the middle of. i remember kids in the neighborhood remarking about how creepy it was. i always thought that if some flies talked about a cleverly disguised spiderweb, the tone in their voices would be the same as what those kids sounded like when discussing that house.
