Braking.....

Is there a way to reduce the braking so the planes don't nose dive so much??

If so would it need done to every craft in the config or somewhere?

Thanks.........:friday:

I forget the exact line, but it's under brakes in the aircraft.cfg file.

Thanks...So then I assume I can just play at reducing that value and test it ? :ernae:

Alot depends on the weight of the aircraft so the scalar value must vary. Taildraggers I have typically want .64 to .69. Larger aircraft, turboprops and jets will likely want more braking.

[brakes]
toe_brakes_scale =0.78000

This is for a 34000 lb taildragger I am working on.

If you are talking more about tricycle gear nose dives, that may be an issue with the contact.0 damping setting.

Yes....

I am actually speaking more of the Tricycle nose gear...Should have stated that better.....

I will play with those values too...Thanks for that.......

Also I must say, that lately every flight I load I find myself in the Woods panel...What a super sweet beauty she is.....:applause::applause:

Thank you! Had a HD crash. Did a re-install and could not find the wood dash panel. I really like the Aero Series of planes. Nice fliers. Some of the 600 series have hard to read gauges. That is what I like about this one. Easy on the eyes.

We redid all the Aero basic series for hi-res VC panels and gauges. Just visit the Aero Commander Downloads page and look for those denoted in RED for the latest releases.

SORRY Harleyman :focus:

Pedals make braking much easier than they are without. Before I had pedals, I used to tap the brakes switch. I'm sure you've noticed that holding 'period' equals 'lock the brakes up'.

You are correct Milton.....That is the model...

Even just tapping the brakes at around 30 knots dives the brakes on all tricycle gear.......

There is also some braking differences between FS9 and FSX. The coeficent of friction in FSX appears to be lower, and locking of the wheels (rather easily) is modled. With an on off system this can be an issue. As noted, Pedals are somewhat more sucessful. The nose dive, as indicated by Milton, regards the CG position and the compression ratio of the nose gear.

Cheers: T.
