C123 repaints continued.

Not looked yet mate, here's an update on the old metal scheme though :d
I will be doing a couple of bare metal schemes, this one is a patched and grotty one.

Here are a few more bare metal schemes I have been playing with, as well as adding a bit more detail too parts of the aircraft. As for the Alaskan Air Guard, I have sent an email to the photographer too see if he can help.

Steve

I have just uploaded N87TD bare metal scheme. I will be finnishing up on a few bare metal schemes over the weekend and upload them as and when done.

I noticed that 64395 went through a couple minor paint changes over the years.

The earlier photos are pre-guard and has "Alaskan Air Command" on the fuse, then after the early/mid 70's, went to "Alaska Air Guard"....in addition to some minor color changes (and prob. tail insignia).

Just thought it was neat to note the subtleties.

The photo's I have seen are only of the Gate Guard at Kulis. where it is painted grey, I have found the tail insignia and have restarted work on it:d

I have just uploaded the first Alaskan Air Guard scheme, the grey scheme will be another day. I'm going to be finnishing off another bare metal scheme next.

How bout one of the stand-ins for the movie ConAir. It has a manufacturer's serial number: 20245. This makes it ex 56-4361, also an ex 439thTAW C-123K.

For those who don't know, but want it/them, Heather Sherman did the paints for "Jail Bird" and "Large Marge" N709RR , the aircraft used for the flying scenes in ConAir. They are both available at Avsim. c123lm.zip and c123jb.zip

Very nice work, Steve. Appreciate your paints very much.

How about a method of adding cargo weight to this bird? A web search for doing so directed me to the archives here, but they are now gone.

nothing scientific to these numbers, but I use them to get some weight. Change or add to the below section in the aircraft.cfg

[WEIGHT_AND_BALANCE]
empty_weight=27542 // Empty weight of aircraft DOW (lbs)
reference_datum_position=0,0,0 // (feet) distance from FS Reference: (1/4
chord, centerline, waterline)
empty_weight_CG_position=0,0,0 // (feet) longitudinal, lateral, vertical distance
from specified datum
max_number_of_stations=4 //50 // Payload weight (lbs), longitudinal, lateral, vertical positions from datum (feet)

station_load.0 = 190.0, 16.0, -2.0, 0.8, Pilot
station_load.1 = 190.0, 16.0, 2.0, 0.8, Co-pilot
station_load.2 = 0.0, -5.0, 0.0, -6.0, Payload1
station_load.3 = 0.0, -15.0, 0.0, -6.0, Payload2
