CavalierDuck's Wooden Wonder Wander

... and the Duenna is green. Down safe at AGGA. A little bit of cloud and turbulence over the mountains but otherwise a straightforward flight.

Good to see you starting off! We were asking about you yesterday..

Well yesterday I was at Shoreham airshow - yes, the one where the Hawker Hunter crashed onto the road. I saw the whole thing happen. 11 dead, maybe more. Not a good day is an understatement.

Nice pics of the Mossie btw. I've always thought it's a stunning aircraft ever since I saw the movie 633 Squadron a long time ago. There was a group at the show yesterday who are trying to restore one here in the UK, I don't believe there are any flying examples here.

And down at AGGV.

Down at AGGM, with a lot of luck and a (somehow) green Duenna.

That was pretty horrible. Weather I was supposed to get: few clouds at 1600, broken at 10,000. What I got: socked in from 3500 to about 200. Got totally lost in the cloud, went back up to 4000 to get bearings again (how's that work? Can see the ground from 4000 but not from 400.... hmmm!), pointed myself towards the field and dropped to 200 in the hope of finding it, which by some miracle I did. Flew a very tight pattern and managed something that I wouldn't really like to call a landing but the Duenna was green. The Mossie's going to need some fixing before it goes up again though, I banged it down hard. My meanderings in the clouds have probably cost me a good 10-15 minutes.
