Cessna 348 O2-TT_An O2 On Steroids

FAC257

SOH-CM-2025
Cessna 348 0-2TT

I was straightening out my aviation book shelf last night and didn't realize what this manual actual was for. I've had it for years and just thought it was for the standard Cessna O-2.

The manual is dated November 1968.

The performance difference to a standard 0-2 is quite remarkable. The manual specs it out with Allison 250-B15 Turbo Props. It also has a 31% larger wing area over the 0-2.

Pretty cool little aircraft.

Hmmm.
Wasn't that Cessna's attempt to use the existing O-2 airframe and modify it to compete with the OV-10 Bronco?
I could swear I've seen that info before a long, long, time ago. :kilroy:

Some of the manual pages sort of bears that out, with performance & design data aimed at FAC and night recon modification.

One page is titled "Ground Operating Improvements To Meet Forward Operating Base Requirements".

I wonder how much seating/cargo space is in the aft fuse compartment.

One of the interesting features of the OV-10 is that rear compartment. I've often wondered how often it's actually used for cargo or passengers. It looks like it would be a claustrophobic place to ride. At least the Cessna looks like it has windows.

I'd also like to see one of these for FS, it looks pretty neat.

It looks fairly spacious. Both front seats and compartments are forward of the leading edge of the wing, with full sized side opening doors for the front and rear seat.

Here's the shot showing the cabin space aft of the rear seat.

Would have been great to see it produced in numbers, the view would have been great from the pilots seat.

Interesting they were investigating making a OV-10 into a cargo version during Vietnam as well.
I used to really enjoy flying Tim Conrad's CV-10T in FS9.
