CK FM2 in fs9

l'iguane

SOH-CM-2024
Hi folks,

As Captain Kurt kindly released a great looking Grumman FM2 series for CFS2, here is an early WIP, reworked to fs9.
No idea where this painting project his heading to, this WIP is a quick&dirty paint I did experiment with last night. Maybe a couple of liveries may come out of this.

Again, many many thanks to Captain Kurt for keeping our sims alive !

There is also an FSX version over at Avsim by Jerry Beckwith. It comes with a fully functional plane and an aircraft carrier and support ship. I fly it in FSX-SE. A lot of fun trying land on that carrier. Just type FM2 WILDCAT AND ESCORT CARRIER GROUP in search box. Robert

Looks good l'iguane :encouragement: And you are right the model by CK is really a nice looking model.

Cheers,
Huub

(No not CFS2, it is the Midway package by Yanco)

Superb L!

I love how you get those very thin, but excellent panel lines and dzus fasteners, subtle and realstic....:applause:

Don't forget the pilot's tex!

And yes I shined my FM2, what MDLC shine settings did you use?

Cheers

Hi Shessi,

I only use MDLC to turn non reflective mdls to reflective ones.

Then with MDLMAT I adjusted the shine :

All airframe is LOD01 - Part 01
Material properties :
Diffuse : Whatever, no impact on shine
Ambiant : 100 100 100 255 (improving mdl self shadowing, up to fs9 limitations...)
Specular : 80 80 80 255 (values from OBIO's mdlmat tutorial, works fine !)
Specularity box : 50

Canopy & propeller are listed as Part 03 of LOD01 and not texture is assigned to canopy but propeller has one so I had to find a medium transparency value to fit both
Diffuse : 140 140 140 80
Ambiant : N/A - black
Specular : 240 240 240 255
Emmissive : N/A black

specularity box : 1000

I found MDLC to have less parameters to adjust, MDLMAT is a more complete solution when it comes to shine.

Cheers
L'iguane
