Classic ship collection for FSX/P3D

Have you finally found the missing Victory??

DaveB:)

I guess that now I can't avoid doing a convoy... :wiggle: Last night the Victory class model went to the texturing workshop... Erwin Welker has provided a couple of escort ships, but I still need a couple of bad guys below the surface, before starting on the routes.

Excellent:encouragement:

There's a pilotable U-Boat knocking around.. can't remember it's origins (think I got it from FSShipyards) nor if it has a deck gun. Been a long time since I've seen it 'in sim'. Seeing the speed at which you knock these complex ships out.. it shouldn't take you long to build a U-Boat;)

Henrik..

Thinking about it, you only need to model a periscope and have it appear (at a distance) at a given point of your route. How cool would that be.. a periscope with a wake effect added:encouragement:

They'd not be on the surface during the day after a convoy (I doubt) so there's no need to model a full submarine:)

Hi Dave,
But if you hit the sub with a tacpack bomb it should stick the stern in the air... so I will still need to do the full boat... But as you wrote - it is not the most complex thing in the world to model.

Henrik

Rgr that mate;) I don't have TP and hadn't considered that aspect. I was also working on the assumption that the convoy would have escorts and under these conditions.. I'd expect most (if not all) daylight attacks to be carried out submerged. As you say though.. TP opens up a world of possibilities. I may even invest in it one day;)

I have a very old model that I started in Max 9 of the XII boat. You can have the source file if you wish. PM me if interested.

Edit: it's a VII-C boat Hull and tower done no details.

Paul's submarine has now been downloaded - looks great and I will bring her the lasts steps to launch. The Victory class has also advanced, so release could be expected sometime in August :)

Not a lot of progres the last two weeks, but finally the Victory ships are getting ready in both civilian post war painting and in convoy configuration. All in all there will be 7 or 8 different models.

You will in the package also get the two last sailing Victory ships - the Red Oak Victory and the American Victory, so you can mix them with your modern ships - not need to change everything, but I guess the classic pack is approaching 50 - 60 models relevant for the period 1940 to the late sixties.

Status / Update?

Is there any status or update of this amazing project!?

Thank you for the wonderful work you've provided for the enjoyment of all.

Yes, there is a status... The sad truth is that the models are collecting dust on my computer , while I returned to add more models to the modern fleet... I might consider releasing them as individual AI models, because they are there - I just didn't get in the "today I will program a large convoy" mood - with the modern models it is easy to do routes and I have already the critical mass for adding realistic and varied traffic in all corners of the world - with the classic models it is more complicated to make routes as I have less models - I guess around 45-50 compared to 600 modern ships.

I just decided to release the T2 tankers and the Victory class plus a few other classic ships without routes - if someone wants to take a look at them before release and see if I messed up something please send me a PM and then they can hopefully be online next week.
