Crunch time- Win10, Win11, FS9, and you.

I have read that a sign of insanity is doing the same thing over and over expecting a different result. If this is true Win11 is absolutely insane. Do those ossified craniums at Micro$oft actually think anyone out here is going to click a shortcut to start a program then click "no" on that asinine UAC popup? I'm surprised there isn't a second popup - "Did you wish to click "yes" to the UAC prompt?" I think a fitting reward for foisting this pathetic excuse for an OS on the public would be for everyone at Microsoft to enjoy their creation in every aspect of their lives from now on - "Do you wish to flush the toilet", "Do you wish to start the car?", "Do you wish to open the refrigerator?", "Do you wish to hug your spouse?"

Three weeks of this is enough, I shall turn off Universally Abhorred Crapola on this system as I did on Vista and Win7; despite the fact that everything I read online, not just MS fanboys but tech sites, windoze sites, etc. warns that doing so will cause the meltdown of the entire computer system worldwide.

Next will come eliminating W11 constantly pestering me to micromanage all those 450,000 "essential" processes always running in the background. As I wrote this there was a popup informing me that "sihclient" was requesting elevation ...how the hell am I supposed to know if this should be allowed or not. Though I would love to elevate sihclient ... deeply into the nether regions of Microsoft's CEO.

Haven't even installed FS2004 on this system yet. The ordeal of replacing the payware aircraft is weighing heavily. My racing sims work fine ...except for no FFB in W11 (which seems to be a complaint with joysticks in FS as well); looking at new wheels it's a tossup whether they will be fully functional, for every person who says it works fine there are a half dozen threads of "can't install drivers", "no FFB", "W11 doesn't recognize device".

I sense Win7 in a VM coming on.

My techie friend has a theory that MS has two development teams that work on alternate Windows versions. One is pretty sharp and gave us WinXP, Win7, and Win10. The other team is definitely second string, maybe trainees, and that gave us Vista, Win8.0, and Win11. I think he might be onto something.

I've gone through all of them, WinXP, Win7, Win8, Win8.1, Win10 & now Win11.
I did miss out on Vista!
Anyhow, I'm actually quite happy with Win11 - the secret is running it on modern software.
I'm using an ASUS laptop, Ryzen 7, 16GB RAM, 500GB SSD & 2TB & a 500GB portable drives both plugged in, & I'm running FS9 & P3Dv4.5 off those drives.
Because I quite like eye candy & other stuff, I've made W11 my own, by using mods such as Start11, Rainmeter, Powertoys & Windhawk.
I dont really use the Start menu, as I'm using TaskbarPlus & QuickAccessPopup.

I have also replaced File Manager with the dual paned tabbed OneCommander & I'm also using 'Everything' to replace the built -in cr!@#py Windows Search.

So far, after 4-5 years, I've found that, for me, FS9 does seem to run a bit faster & smoother compared to other OS's.

I suppose that we all do things differently, but for me, Win11 works, without any issues.
