DC-4 Skymaster

Maybe they should try to make a government that works. Before they start playing with batteries. Silly Dutchies.

From the article linked in ftl818's post above: "the Massachusetts-based company Form Energy has several iron-air battery projects in the works in the US. They are slated for installation in New England and the Midwest."

Got a heat wave in the UK, temps up to 38 on Thursday. Everyone’s losing their mind! Really enjoying watching the progress here. Such a cool aircraft to watch coming together!

Hello,

I have introduced a little modification in the valve management, adding 4 switchs on the overhead (DC(4 & C-54) to activate theses valves with the mouse after the battery was ON.
The modelBehaviors for the fuel selectors should be amended to take in account theses new switchs as soon as possible.

Hello,

To make you wait for the final version, I decided to release this beta version v0.5.1 which according to its version number is only half development.

First of all, take note of these few recommendations:
- Some gauges have issues, especially those that show a heading; I need to check them one by one.
- I haven’t done any in-depth work on the textures, some objects are already in PBR, others aren’t, some PBRs are not final and will be reviewed, so there’s no need to send me patches for this part: it will be fully reviewed.
- The flight models are those from Flight Replicas, to which I have added a few fixes, but I think I will need to review them at the end of the modeling to adapt them to each model.
- Some XML files are obfuscated: it’s normal, I would like to be able to master certain points as long as the addon isn’t finished.
- The only repaint correct according to my judgment is the "Air France", the repaints provided are only for information purposes, they are provisional (and not finished) and will be reviewed in detail late (On the NL-316 I have worked only half one hour),
- A lot of work on sounds is underway and I hope to be able to provide a more immersive sound environment (mix Legacy and WWise).
- In the Documentation directory, there is a ChangeLog that gives the version number and contains the list of what has been done and what still needs to be done. Please read this file first. You can make comments on the points that seem interesting to go into more detail. If I forgot any details, you can let me know (I give myself the freedom to accept or refuse them), but read the change log before formulating them.

I hope to have a v1.0 version by the end of the year ... I don’t give more details about my schedule :geek:

This link is a generic one without any apparent version number; I will regularly update this link with future versions. To find out the current version, you need to look at the ChangeLog file.

I don’t upload it yet to the SOH Library because it is supposed to be modified "quite frequently" depending on advances, so not to interfere with the work of the Administrators, I chose this temporary distribution method.

I distribute these development versions only on SOH and I would like it to remain that way, so please do not distribute this link outside. When the addon is finished, it will be made official and distributed more widely.

The current version:

I wanted to thank Javis, with whom we talked about this project at the end of last year, and it’s largely because of him that I started this project (it’s my first four-motor). Don’t forget Mike (Flight Replicas), who kindly allowed us to work on this upgrade of his 3D model.

Currently, there are three people from SOH who help me on certain points: Hollister56, Tiger1962, and DennyA ... thank you to them for their contributions.

First and foremost lagaffe you have done a wonderful job thus far, bravo :ernaehrung004:

I really enjoyed my flight last night, only issue so far that I noticed visually was to the right side wall a flickering texture see screenshot below. It constantly flickered throughout the flight.

Thanks for your remark.
This location have been reworked a lot to be able yo animate the cockpit windows. It's possible taht some vertex have moved and are at the same plane than aothers of the exterior model so it result flickering .
I will study that as soon as possible.

Question: This appear on the DC-4 or he C-54 ? Each one have it own interior 3D model.

I'm curious as to what the humidity will be when its at 38 C ? I was once dispatched to a wildland fire, thick heavy and tall, very dry grass, burned about 5000 acres before it transformed (not sure thats the right word) in a full on "forest fire" at that point. The temp was 112f at my home when the pager went off, the relative humidity was at 4%. Ive known some people from the south east USA who would tell me id never handle the humidity there. maybe so, but im hear to say... at 112f to 115f with the humidity at 4%, it is the same feeling in your chest/lungs as if you opened your oven and breathed in the hot air. just to finish.. the outside temp had come to 115f around 3pm, and when we got our break and rolled into fire camp, it was 99f at 1am. We werent lucky and got structure protection, which can be damned intense at times, but we were supporting a handcrew and doing dozer operations. That was the first time Joe "Hoser" Satrapa nailed me with a direct, full load of retardant, his S2 still had the radials back then.

Anywayyyyy... just curious as to what your humidity had gotten too...lol
btw,, 112f =44.44c and 115f = 46.11c

I believe it was close to 90% in the mornings then as the temps went up it came down to around 45% for most of the rest of the day. Delivering mail in a clapped out van with no air con was no fun. Neither was going back to my flat in the roof also with no air con.

You were baptized in red mud by the Master. 😁

I'm from VT. Which is known in the forestry circles as the Asbestos State (Not counting the actual Asbestos mine that was open into the mid/late 70's) The woods are mostly hardwoods and the soil composition is mostly topsoil. We didn't have much for forestry stuff in my FD days. Springtime grass and field fires? All the time until it greened up. It's major news if a fire here lasts longer than 24 hours and burns over 30 acres.
