Does this sim EVER work???

MS2024 is as stable as MS2020, provided you only have ONE each of the following: Monitor, keyboard, mouse, controller or joystick or yoke & pedals.
Start adding VR or switch panels and additional screens etc. and you're just asking for trouble.
Custom registrations are working for me after SU1, also pilots are visible in MS2020 port-overs after SU1.
If you're still on the fence, wait for SU2 or even SU3 by which time most peripherals and MSFS2020 add-ons will be compatible at least.
You definitely have a point here. I was totally loyal to FSX up to 2 years ago - never had any 'major' issues with it. My config file only had a handful of 'tweaks' - many of which were deemed 'necessary' to enable smooth fps rates using complex Orbx scenery and payware aircraft addons with the dated sim engine and it's inherent VAS cap (remember OOM errors ? remember KSEA - the stutter capital of the sim ?). Bottom line - my FSX was lean and mean. If I didn't use it - I got rid of it. John V. at Orbx always said this to people having fps issues, stutters, CTD's ... etc. 'remove unnecessary addons you never use, and delete fsx.config file and let the sim rebuild a new one next time you fly. Things will be smooth as butter."

If the sim is clean, without unnecessary tweaks/addons - it will serve you well. It is not reasonable (speaking from an FSX viewpoint) to download the sim, make tweaks galore, followed by tweaks to keep other tweaks in line, load up the sim with freeware galore - much of which you use once and then forget about it, and then expect the software to miraculously somehow 'sift through the rubbish' and come out of the tunnel with perfect performance in all areas each and every time. Garbage in = garbage out, IMHO, lol !

FS2024 (when clean and well organized) will be a wonderful sim one day, as MS has invested too much into it to just let it coast. That day, however, is not the present. Hopefully it's sooner than later. It will, I fear, take MS many more months to 'digest' all the new features it's newest sim has to offer.

I will get off my soapbox now, having thrown in my 2 cents worth ....... :)

They should have called it Fs2025 and given themselves a whole more year to improve the game. Unfinished game releases seem to be the standard these days, while prices are still going up. Eighty euros for the latest Doom game, while GTA6 is expected to cost more than a hundred..

New games go on my Steam wishlist, I will pick then up when there is a good sale. Really enjoying Fallout 4 at the moment. Less than ten euros with all dlc last autumn.
