Douglas A20 Havoc

Douglas A20 Havoc checklists

Hello Milton,
Would it be possible to get a checklist and references list
your bird is so hot that I fired up my pc before going to work and made a test flight
Wow, the VC is really pretty!
I tried out to fly at 3000ft altitude with the engine settings 24 map and 2100 rpm the plane really slows down a lot
34 and 2400 seems more real
What do you think about
a full flight test will be done after holydays
Oh please tell me how the fuel management and most important the fuel gauges should work. Perhaps I can find some solution via the gauges.
I will see later to change over from the A26 gauges to your ones. this need a whole overwork of the dashbord. but for this plane I will do it.
Just a question of time. I hope that more than a dozen users will apreciate my trial to contribute to this fine ac you give us.
Now slowly preparing to go to work from 18:00 to 06:00.
I will see if from work I can have a look to the forum.
Tomorrow preparing my baggage and than taking the train home to my loved brittany
Huub do you know the region of Lorient ?
Yours
Papi

Hello Papi,

The check lists will come with subsequent releases. This "pre-beta" (you might call it an alpha level test), is very raw in form, very incomplete of course, but I wanted to get this out to you all to help identify issues experienced on your systems, and make the models available to painters.

After initial takeoff, I set the map at 47" and rpms at 2400 for initial climbout.
Once in climb I gradually reduce MAP to 42", RPMs to 2200.
Cruise settings I use per my sources are: MAP at least 33" and RPMs in the 2000-2200 range depending on altitude and weight (18000 - 20000lbs). Ferry weights are heavier and require more MAP.
At 12000', I use 33" x 2200RPMs and get good peformance. See attached.

Keep approach speeds to 135-150kias.
Flaps and gear below 150kias are available.

Keep speeds to 115+ on short final with full flaps and power (depending on weight).
Cross the fence at 100+ with power as necessary.
Touch down with or w/out power is okay keeping nose wheel up slightly.

Retract flaps after stabilized rollout to enhance braking.
Open Cowl flaps and ground flaps.

Hope that helps a bit.

I like the latest Russian scheme you're working on, Steve, my hope is that all of yours and Huub's paints will fit the final release.

My gaming machine is having some issues with FS9... Sometimes the ATC and pilot responses are a bit garbled. In the process of diagnosing and looking for fixes as I type. It just started up lastnight while I was in the P-70A2 model. The issue exists no matter what I'm flying. No worries tho, I have it all backed up if I need to resort to a compleat un-install. FSX seems OK tho...

Good evening Milton,

thank you for your advice,
I tried just out what has been written in the read me.
On the first "prototype" release I did fly most with
48 / 2400 for climb and
40 / 2200 with automatic rich mixture at 5000ft
landing was most with 42 / 45 and 2400 and mix full rich
must say that on these short flights the tanks will not empty a lot
as I mostly did short flight (Vannes to Brest, or Nantes to Brest and return to Vannes)
I did not fly at high altitudes. I fact just short trial flights to experiance my mods on the panels.
"Werkstattflüge" as a german would say.
I must say I' vera pleased to work on the panel for this bird. With all the docs I got from you,
there are a lot of possibilities that are still open to put into the panel.
Back from holydays it will interest me to reenhance the gauges and to have a closer look to the fuel switches - Will need a lot of reading !!! LOL !
Yours
Papi

Looks great Steve, one of my favourite Russian liveries.

Here's what I've been struggling with...... and still not finished :banghead:

Hallo Gaston,
it is a cornish crabber - a cornish crabber 24 MK I Nr 411
it s home is a Gavres near Lorient, normally she is under german flagg
the onliest gaffer under german flagg at brittanies coast.
in fact it was one of the last Mk I's and she has already the MK II hull but till the littler MK I rigg
she was launched in 1985.
Yes I love classic boats and airplanes
" Belle barque"! From this point of view, i was unable to make distinction between the Crabber and the Cutter. In addition it missed a size scale. I was sailing in Brittany some years ago mainly "Baie de Quiberon" and "Golfe du Morbihan", living in Vannes. Mine was moored "Chenal de Noyalo" near Séné, now Marseille, not same sailing conditions.
JMC

Glad you guys like them.
I have been playing with this one this evening. It was put back together after a crash landing, after running into flak.
North Baltic late 44.

would be interesting for huub also
for a while i sailed as skipper the ancient sinagot "Les Trois Freres" which was based most the time at
Port Navalo, but its home was Sene
coming back to flightsim, my "home base" is Vannes-Meucon.
very suitable and interesting for the Havoc.
In 42 hours I will be at home at Gavres

Papi,

Far left and top is the freeware AFSD screen that shows everything important about the flight model. I displayed AoA there.

You can get it here: http://www.aero.sors.fr/designer_pilot_utilities.html

The other screen is the freeware "Convert" program. It converts units of measure for most anything you need to convert - distance, weights, speeds, etc.

You can get that here: https://joshmadison.com/convert-for-windows/

Yes, i am French and of course we can write in French but may not be correct for those who do not understand it :adoration: !

Bon retour,
JMC

Beta item: I'm not seeing the "ghost" image of the spinning props on the G models.

Once the Beta phase is completed, is it best to wipe all of the A-20 files from my FS9 directory and use all fresh downloads?

Winter is on it's way so thought it best I get prepared.

Yes, looks like it is too transparent in the model.

Attached is a temporary replacement spinprop.bmp for your G texture folders.

Just unzip and copy replace to your "G" texture folders.

Once the full beta is released, it will be a full replacement of your current pre-beta release.

It will only include Wellis' textures so you must protect any downloaded liveries.
