Douglas C-47 v3 Livery Thread

Need a United Air Lines early Livery...with the paint on the wings...please.
attachment.php

I'll take that one. Registration NC16063, finding enough good pictures will be a challenge. After a perfunctory search I found UAL had several DC-3s all in slightly different liveries.

Having said that, hasn't that paint already been done for the previous version of MJ's DC-3?

Ron Attwood,

If you are up for exciting challenge, may I request this repaint please as seen below:

Can anybody please paint on C-47 this Wien Alaska livery as seen on this photo? Unfortunately, there is NO known color photo for that but it is based on Nationwide Airlines livery. Thanks for any help. Notice full words Wien Alaska Airline. Experts say "From what I've seen in a much smaller photo, the dark areas are dark blue - nose, upper fuselage and upper vertical tail are white and the lettering, numbers and wing flash behind cockpit are yellow/gold. Wings, horizontal tail and belly are shiny aluminum."

Thank you...thank you...thank you. Yes...sort of...see jpeg attached "Repaint from V2.jpg...not the same. The version with the white top and painted wings, top and bottom, is really a hold over from UAL's B-247 (see attached .jpg "Boeing 247.jpg"). You're right in that UAL had several liveries for the DC-3 during it's career. I'm currently building a large (82" Wing Span) scale RC model of the DC-3 that I'm going to paint in this version and name it after my father who was a UAL captain and started, of course, on DC-3's after the war. I've attached several pictures that I hope will help.

I've also attached a picture of a PAA post war DC-3 that I would love if you would do. The V2 version has the newer World Globe...just not right.

Again thank you.Another Bottom View of UAL DC-3.jpgUnderside of UAL DC-3.jpgUAL Early DC-3.jpgUAL DC-3 Photo.jpgSide View of UAL DC-3.jpgEarly PAA.jpgDesktop Model of UAL DC-3.jpgDecal Set UAL DC-3.jpgClose Up of UAL DC-3.pngBoeing 247.jpgAnother UAL DC-3 Photo.pngUnited Later DC-3.jpg

Are there any DC-3/C-47 repaints that have NOT been done?

No way, Jose ...;)

I uploaded one with the same reg [VH-ABR] in SEVEN liveries and that wasn't all of them, I think.

I'd 'guestimate' there'd be about 1000 or 2 in Aussie records alone....;)

Is anyone of the talented SOH painters interested in doing the last flying C-47D of the Hellenic Air Force (ΠΑ 49622) please ? I'm not skilled myself but all gentlemen here are doing extraordinary repaints, so I just hope !!!

Hi,

Doing a complete new (ground-up) repaint of Dutch DDA Classic Airlines only DC-3 at the moment, the PH-PBA.

Almost finished with the "KLM" 2012 version, the new "DDA" 2016 version will follow:

Duckie .. Ole 'Road Runner' BEEP BEEP .. on a DC-3. should'nt it be 'CHUG CHUG' :adoration:

Ian and Dirk, I apologize for not acknowledging your comments earlier. Some how I missed them earlier and I just now saw them as I was looking for an earlier post in this thread. Thank you both for your comments.

Ian, I'm sure there were probably many times those EC pilots wish their ride had road runner like speed when exiting a hot zone! :biggrin-new:

Hi Huub,

Marcel,
You are of course free to do it again, but I have done that one already 3 times..... (for the V1, V2 and V3 version)
http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/showthread.php?101972-C-47-KLM-PHPBA-DDA-aircraft
The new livery (with DDA 's own logos instead of KLM) has also already been done by Emile Lancee and can be found at Flightsim.com ( douglas_c-47_texture_phpba_v2.zip )

Fully aware of these, just wanted to give the new V3 of the Dakota my version of these liveries. :encouragement: Think you will be able to see the differences.
