Dover Cliffs

stoney

SOH-CM-2023
I'm kinda new to FS, being a long time CFS2 flyer. But I obtained a copy of FS2002 and I like it quite a bit. My question is: where are the chalk cliffs at Dover? Seems like such a prominent geographical feature would be there. Martin Wright has these for CFS2. Would they work in FS2002?

Never got FS2002 but I do know the white cliffs are missing FS2004 as well. They were in CFS 1 default and you'd think that if MS could get them right back in 1998, they could have put them into later versions of FS.

In many a CFS mission I found my way back to base once I'd found the cliffs.

I've checked everywhere I can think of and can't find anything. I'd love to see the cliffs too.

Hum I wonder if UK2000 Scenery set might have the White Cliffs of Dover? Do we have any Landclass FS9 designers in here at SOH?

Yea, I was bummed when I saw they were not in FS. :banghead: They looked great in CFS1. Not sure what the reasoning could be not to include them in FS. :censored:

Hi all,
The package Trans mentione looks great from 5000ft.But below that it is not so nice.Texture appear all blurred and horrible at low level.I have all 4 scenery packs for the UK plus the mesh.I still use the mesh but the scenery stops all autogen scenery from working as well.

Hmmm... I wonder what would happen if I tried to put the CFS1 cliffs in FS9 :wiggle:

They really looked great when returning from a mission, all shot up and with much confusion as to exactly where you were at.

Dunno, after a lot of tweaking both in the files and in my scenery.cfg file, I got the old CFS 1 addon scenery for CFC Rochford to work in FS9. :d

Hi all,
Didn,t Martin Wright do a scenery package for CFS2 that included the cliffs. It was an airfield near Dover.

He did, but I'm fairly sure they were placed using GSL, so would be a no-go for FS. But if they were a library file, there are programs that can place them in FS.

Jamie

I've not tried them in FS 9, but they are in my CFS 2 ETO activated through the Scenery Library and not the GSL.

As the mesh for the area doesn't really show the cliffs very well, Martin's cliffs are best viewed from a distance or from near sea level.

WCoD have been done for FS9, I have puttered my Bleriot over the Channel with them in sight. It was part of some English scenery, I will dig in the archive.

Thanks boys. Guess it wasn't just bad navigation on my part as I feared. I was just poodeling along the coast in my DH Tigermoth and hoped to see them hove into view. When they didn't I was perplexed.

When I fly across the Channel, I usually use the Dover VOR. It's always a dissappointment to not see them when I arrive!:banghead:

Poodleing....now there's a technical term I haven't heard before, lol. :costumes:

The Cliffs of Dover by martin Wright are well above sea level when you try to import them in FS9!:costumes: They're hangin in the air! Pity!:kilroy:
