i have an email off to the people at REX,but i just want to fly real world weather, like we used to be able to do with FSX or FS9,is that possible in P3Dv3? im not flying as yet,i need to get moved and a "game center" built.so theres time.i just want to be able to look oout my window and see clouds or sun and have that be what i fly,meaning..real life like turbulance or clouds, rain ,snow and so on.any ideas?

Dave, I don't think you have any choice but to use a weather engine. I use HiFi Simulation's Active Sky 2016 along with their Active Sky Cloud Art, which is about as good as it gets, you get very accurate weather and sky/clouds to match the conditions.

There are a few freeware utilities to download and inject the real weather in P3D or FSX.
For example, FSRealWX might be a good start :)

However, the current "best" weather engine is Active Sky.
The previous version was Active Sky Next.
The current version is Active Sky 2016.
Both versions have a very interesting feature: the historical mode. It will download the weather corresponding to the exact date and time you set for your flight.
So, if you want to fly somewhere in summer time, then Active Sky will download the live weather from that place at that day/time.

Other weather engines have only "live" weather. So even if, today, you create a flight set in July, you will get some November weather on it.

Active Sky 2016 is quite expensive for the moment.
However, Active Sky Next (which is the previous version... isn't that confusing? :D ), is frequently on sales and thus gets a very reasonnable price :)

Dave,

I use FS Global Real Weather, which among other goodies has the nice feature that it does not only rely on METAR data, which apparently can be coarse or inaccurate. Also, collecting data from different data sources as well as consolidating and translating the meteorological data into P3D / FSX formats is done on a remote server farm, not by the client. So the client just retrieves the already FS optimized data and injects it into the sim. I thought that this is a very good and streamlined concept.

However, what I would do in your case would be to start with the freeware http://www.fsrealwx.net/ , which I used for many years myself, and see if it serves your needs. You always can upgrade to a payware product later if you miss a feature.

Cheers,
Mark
