"Everybody hates Apple's exclusivity arrangement with AT&T. Even AT&T"

I'm glad you posted this. I've had a hunch for a while. My Iphone gets worse service than anyone else in my area with AT&T, and I've wondered why. I drop calls....get delayed messages... so on and so forth. It took them until this year to get 3G. It gets worse though; I've noticed that if I use my 3G service for a while, I lose 3G coverage for an hour or two. It's almost like they know I'm eating up bandwidth and are trying to limit my useage. Screw AT&T.

I have always wondered why Apple went with the worst provider possible for distributing the IPhone.

It would have made more sense to market to many different suppliers.

After hearing all the complaints my friends who have them have told me...

Forget it I will go with the standard cell phone. :icon_lol:

I get all the same bad service as well from at&t. Those commercials with the 4 bars... Try 1 on a usual basis.

One thing that at&t did with the new 3Gs is not allow Tethering, a new technology that enables your iPhone to act as a wireless link to the internet for your Laptop computer. One links it to the Laptop, either by cable or bluetooth, then you are good to go. You can even have your iPhone in your pocket and access the internet. But at&t wouldnt have any part of that. They can sell super expensive wireless cards and internet rates instead.

People will sacrifice good phone rates and high prices to have an iPhone. I am one of them. $175.00 a month for service alone. Some people with cell phones only pay perhaps $30.00 a month.

horrible...

I hope they find a good provider for iPhone soon. Maybe Apple will take up the baton?

I was watching Dilbert Animations today and guess what the commercials were?

http://www.dilbert.com/animation/

AT&T new Netbooks with built in 3G wireless

http://www.wireless.att.com/cell-phone-service/specials/netbooks.jsp

Now if they are having trouble providing bandwidth on 3G for the IPhone how do they add a wireless netbook to their line up with out further running out of bandwidth and further limiting customers? :isadizzy:

I don't see a problem with the Iphone I just think it would be a Great addition to Verizon, Sprint and Nextel's product lines.

I get 6 bars here in Florida. When I was in Phoenix, I had only2 bars, I wonder?

Tethering - that is thing that AT&T cannot justify, how can other countries provide this and not in the US?

I am on a family plan and I pay $152.00 for 2 lines. I don't yak on the phone too much, I have tons of roll over minutes. I text and send data a lot though and that's free.

$30.00 a month- Bill are you talking about Metro Piece of Ch*t .... Ooops sorry! :icon_lol:

Overall, I can't complain, so far, when I signed the contract Tethering was not available then, I am one of the satisfied customers. I have a year and a half more contract. (Am I not glad it's not a lifetime!) Otherwise, I can join the Verizon band. :icon_lol:

Wow, not this guy, no desire or need for an iphone. I have my cell with Verizon for $47 a month and that is to much IMO, LOL.

It's funny people complain about AT&T and I've never had any problems with them. Been with them for almost 10 years now.

HA!!! no cell phone of any kind for me!
it's going to be a trend one day.
when i'm not home, you get the machine.
one number for all my needs.
i have lots of time away from the house uninterupted by phone calls that coulda waited.
no stupid contracts.
no dropped calls.
no worries about how many bars.
my phone does 2 things only, it takes calls, it makes calls - no other "apps"

Hey Drake,

Sorry to sound negative. Be them whom ever they are that my service is through, I pay a huge amount for this thing, and waited for the newest Apple iPhone (3Gs) and they disallowed the Tethering capability of the iPhone (one of the reasons I wanted the new one), and my signal (new 3Gs technology) is very poor and I am in the city.

Thats my points. I pay very well for this thing, and well, I want better reception and I want Tethering. Thats all.

I am way happy with my iPhone though. This thing is awesome....

:d

Every time I had dealings with AT&T, I've come away unhappy with them. As for an iphone, I'll stick with my verizon plan. It's cheap and for what I use a cell phone for, it's more than sufficent.

Only the US sells phones tied to carriers. It's very weird actually....and i think almost borderline illegal.

In Asia, you can buy whatever phone you want, and use whomever service provider you want. And, you can actually use multiple service providers at the same time using the same phone (which is what i do). The phones you buy here (including iPhone, blackbarries, etc) come all unlocked (legally as well). So, if i'm in the US, i stick in my Tmobile or AT&T sim card, and it works. In Singapore, i stick in my Sing-tel. In China, i stick in the China Mobile. It's so easy and convient and all bills are paid over the net. And i have a plan where it's all completely pre-paid...so if im not using my T-Mobile in the US, the bill is zero for that month...

the US is about 5 years behind regarding cellphone technology and service. I always feel like i stepped back in time whenever i'm there. If you ever visit Japan, the cellphone tech there is light years ahead...stuff like self-tracking GPS, Video conferencing, etc are just part of the norm on the average phone...

Oh Feng,

I have a sister in Asia, RP, she came to visit me 5 years ago, when we were at Walmart, she wanted to purchase a disposable digital camera, the lady at the counter looked at her with sarcasm on her face and said: we don't have disposable digital camera, woman! :icon_lol:

Now, just a few years ago, we are selling disposable digital cameras. :icon_lol:

Yes, We, here at the US are behind with not only cellphone and service, but with technology. :icon_lol:

this is why i love pay-as-you-go, brought me phone for around £40 about 3/4yrs ago, nothing fancy, makes calls and can send messages, all ya need really ... and i've only spent around £60 on it since, theres no contracts, no obligation to use etc ... just go to the shop (newagents does it just fine) and ask for a top up card, put a tenner on and your good to go again ... doesnt work out cheap if your surgicaly attaced to your phone though! however for me its perfect :engel016:

With my prepaid phone, I buy the minutes online. No need to go to a brick and mortar business.

it's sad that most people in n. america have no idea the cool stuff that should be available but isn't. my wife's family live in osaka and they've told me about some of the really cool stuff that they just think of as routine.
