Flight 19 - See The USA

Hey folks,

Whoa! boy, sure glad that Missoula had there approach light shinning bright with the fog and getting darker as we dropped down into the valley if not it would have been a bugger to fine the runway. Well, any was we all made it down in good shape. Hehe, as we were down on the runway and taxing over to parking, this here thing flew passed going like heck, and sounded like a bunch of hornets that were in a bad mood, but alas, it was only Willy in the process of trying to slow the Gee Bee down in order to land. Now we will be heading over to KWYS which is just West of Yellowstone Park border line. Be no time for site seeing for me, some one said that Yellowstone is setting on or is one mean volcano! So if our luck holes will see you all tomorrow.

Hi here I is again,

It was a nice and fun flight from KMSO Missoula to KWYS Yellowstone. Had a nice tailwind for a lot of the flight, then it became a cross wind. These darn mountains around here seem to grow ended up over 12,000 feet in order to clear them bugger. We had a nice conversation concerning the history around Butte Mo. and some of the problems with the miner and the owners of a few of the mines. Moses is still having problems with the DC-4, it seems they can't get the fan belts changed. hehe. He should catch up here in a day or two. He better we are to pick up some spuds at Boise, Shucks, we will be having some fried taters here shortly along with our normal BBQ. CU next time. And maybe some soda pop

Direct flight into Yellowstone to catch up and on to Boise. I am really missing that California weather, very cold and white out.

Howdy all,

Hehe Willy, pushing the red button is cool, meaning it was a little drafty without the planes skin. Well, here we go, Nice flight and then the wind blew and the poop flew, Lost all electrical power and the Map wouldn't go any higher than 30 inches makes for a real slow climb when you need to get to 12,000 ft. I sure in heck don't know what happen but the electrical part of the problem came back on, hehe which helped, still couldn't get the Map over 30 inches. Dudley and I still made it over the mountains and made our landing at KJAC(Jackson Hole). While we were in Boise we had our little BBQ under the wind of one of the DC-4, now let me tell you it was just great and the tater were fantasy and the rest of the meal was just as good. Well, now we will be on our way to Salt Lake City (KSLC) Which will interesting with all the normal traffic that fly in and out of SLC. Those shop heaters move a heck of a lot faster than this old DC-4.

Hey, here we are again,

Not a bad flight from Jackson Hole (KJAC) to Salt Lake City (KSLC) Wow! there were sure a lot of mountains to fly over, but was able to stay at the altitude of 12,000 though the entire flight. Soon as we passed over the last high ridge we started our descent into the SLC area. Rob and Willy were quit a few miles ahead of our DC-4, and shucks, they were eating a snack after landing before I even started our downwind route. Anyway they passed on the landing and parking information as we make our turn onto final, hehe and we made it down OK. Oh by the way, they didn't save any sandwich's for us, them dirty bugger ate them all. Hehe just joking fellows.

Sandwiches? There were sandwiches? All I could find was a corn dog and a snow cone.

Hehe, got stuck in Salt Lake City without a ride, the Dc-4 is in the need of some pretty heavy maintenance. Fooling around Dudley and I ended up over at AA hanger to snitch a cup of coffee, and the people there, with some guys in suits, were in an heavy discussion about having a crew to fly this here DC-6A cargo bird into KASE Aspen. I would think twice about landing even a piper cub there in this weather. But alas, after some quick and bitter discussion about money Dudley and I said what the heck, Lets do it.

Hi there!

Boy, Dudley and I sure stuck our foot into you know what! We found out that our trip to Aspen KASE has some sticky strings hooked to it. Well, now we need to fly to Hanksville and unload some cargo for the local folks and then to Aspen. Where Dudley and I thought that this was the end of the deal we had with these yo-yos. Were thinking that we might do some site seeing and maybe try to do some of these winter sport without killing ourselves. Hehe, the powers to be finally told us that we were scheduled to fly to a few other designations after arriving at Aspen. Boy, we sure fell into this deal head first, no wonder they offer the big bucks. Lol, after getting use to the idea that we were con! But shucks, hehe we will make a few extra bucks for the war chest and pick up some more hours in the DC-6, which might end up with something good. But we don't believe that!

Hello,

Moses and I had a nice flight from Hanksville (KHVE) to Aspen (KASE) I was flying a little higher than Moses and was having a fair headwind in places it was rock and roll time the up and down drafts were bouncing us around like billiard ball, but we made without running into any mountains or leaving holes in the runway. We both had our flight clocks set for different times, so he landed when it was dark, and us in the late afternoon. Now, to continue the saga of me self and Dudley we will be taking off for KRWL Rawlins, WY. to deliver Snow-cone machine and corn dog sticks. To we are getting some nice bucks for this. hehe.

Splashed out on the Flight Replicas Dc-4... purely for the Carvair. The problem is coming from the PMDG Dc-6 your standards are set very very high. No way to control oil temp, Cowl flap positions are imo inaccurate for cruise to maintain CHT. Flight model is iffy for a big heavy aircraft. Not to mention the Carvairs seem not to be equipped with superchargers.. makes for a slow and steady flight. At $us20 difference for the pmdg bird, I'm suffering a bit of buyers remorse. Have to admit it looks nice.

Hello Folks,

Finally, we got to leave KRWL after we were ordered to not to leave the day before. Evidently there was some secret poop going on that needed to be delivered to KGEY, shucks, we weren't told a thing, but just deliver the crates and that we were on a need to know bases. What a crouch of you know what. Well, we did it hehe we got an escort to the to the ramp area, after shut down these clowns that came out of a hanger started in hurry to unload these here crates, and didn't even say thanks or any thing else not even kiss my #%&^%$, but we yelled that to them. The flight it uneventful hehe we had a nice head wind,about half way there the cloud arrived hot and heavy. We thought we might have a rough time seeing the runway for landing, but as we descended thru the cloud a surprise! we had great visibility at least 20 miles or so. Even under the worst conditions things seen to work out OK.
