Flight1 Bf-109 F/G/K pack question

Just got the Flight1 Bf-109F/G/K package today via the mail and installation in FSX - after specifying FSX as the installation destination - was trouble-free. The only rub I've had so far with it is the cockpit canopy is opaque, like it's misted over. If I open an accessory window while in the air - like the radio window - this effect is compounded by a crazy sort of flickering all over the cockpit; odd shapes twirl in circles, the aircraft structure will become momentarily transparent and I can see the ground through this effect, clearly. It flickers on and off like this for quite some time. I'm not sure this is something that occurs only in the first time the aircraft is used in FSX, or this is something that is cured with an update or fix.

I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 with an AMD Phenom II X4 Processor, 3.00GHZ, 12MB RAM in a 64-bit OS. Video card is an AMD Radeon R9 380 series. Target frame rate is set at 30 FPS.

As these were developed for FS2004, they will have issues in FSX as they are effectively portovers.

There are some replacement prop textures available from the Flight Replicas website, but not sure what is causing the flickering and odd shapes!

I have the G (download package), but found they are better off being converted to FSX native using MDL Converter X.

They still have a few issues such as broken click spots in the VC, but don't drag down frame rates and look nicer.

Cheers

Thanks for the info. I may have to do that conversion as you mention. Where do you find a good model converter?

The updated prop texture will be useful, I can't get into the Flight Replicas website since SkyUnlimited seems to have taken over the FR account and I can't find tech support for FR products. It's a little disappointing to find the product with an auto-installer for FSX but no caution the product is a port-over and is not a native FSX product.

I was going to ask you about the sound for the DB engine as well, what comes with the aircraft is a bit of a let-down.

EDIT: I have FSX Gold which has Acceleration in it. I'll have to see about making sure the DX10 preview feature is shut down in FSX.

2nd EDIT: Shutting down DX10 preview in FSX did the trick. No problems whatsoever. The installation is now perfectly satisfactory. I think the new disk you get through the mail has the updated FSX prop in it, since there is only a difference of a few hours in file time when you replace the file, the date is the same.

SSI01,

I used the excellent MDL Converter X: -

I'm currently using FSX SE in DX10 with Steve's DX10 fixer, but never got the strange flickering issues you had, possibly due to the fixer.

The only problem I had was poor frame rates, hence the decision to convert to FSX native.

Still a few squawks to fix such as the propeller rotating the wrong way, and the sheen of the model, but other than that, quite pleased and a good stop gap until Mike hopefully gets around to doing brand new FSX versions as he did for the K model.

Cheers

Paul
