FS-Weekend saturday impressions

SOH-CM-2025
...the weather was (normal) bad and the aviodrome was crowded.

Big surprise: around 60 or more per cent of all exhibitors or virtual airlines still use(d) FS9. Only very few FSX presentations.

The usual amount of ATC and tubeliner crowd was present. A few great jet displays: The swiss tiger with swiss professional scenery, superb!:applause: Some new home cockpit devices. And only few low and slow. Aerosoft was present with Mathijs Kok and FSAddon with Mr. Dumas. As was Flight 1 who mainly seemed to present the alphasim Hunter pack.

The SOH was represented by: Ferry and Rob (at the DC2 stand), Huub and Jankees (still wondering about the endless tubeliner and ATC crowd), Panaka and my humble self.

Alex

Being there early I had the chance for some undisturbed photoshooting of the regular exhibition:
1. Ferry at the sometimes crowded DC2 stand! Rob was picking up the lunch and isn´t vissible:d
2. a somewhat strange presentation next to it!:isadizzy:
3. the Cat from the tower-building
4. the old radioroom inside the tower
5. ...
6. the connie
7. the connie from the "Jumbo-entrance"
8. an old Saab Viggen
Enjoy!

I'm exhausted, but it was a great weekend! :d

We managed to sell a few more DC-2's, talk to a lot of people and even do a little bit of flying in between.

Best moment of the weekend: The former commander of 321 squadron (Mr. Goossens IIRC..?) doing touch and go's on my computer with the Maam-sim Avenger painted as his aircraft on the Karel Doorman carrier, and coming back the next day to try some more!

The entire Catalina PH-PBY crew trying out how real the Alphasim PBY is on my rig.

The Uiver crew checking out the virtual version of their 'baby' and adding constructive comments.

Maybe I'll post some photo's later. :)

KTZ Gooszen came back for more? I hope he was more succesful the 2nd time round.
Yes, Huub and I looked in awe at people sitting with their hands in their laps, occasionaly adjusting a button here and there, nicely waiting until the ATC told them it was time to land.
Warbird fans were a definite minority, basically the crowd could be divided in four groups:
-default cessna's in FS9 (always in 2d cockpit),
-tubeliners in large groups, at first glance without action at all
-F-16 jockeys in smaller groups, always in green flight suits
-people flying other things (by far the smallest group, I saw one swiss mirage/tiger, one spit, one IL-2 flyer, a grup of Lock-on players, one very nice chopper and once the MAAM B-25.
So, we were the exception, but then, I'm more into painting, most of my flying is done to check the textures...

..and then there was the DC-2 of course. Boy, does that look good in FSX with bumpmaps, light bloom and newer textures!! Great job, boys! I can't wait to take her for a spin.:applause::applause:

He sure did! He was so annoyed he came back to try again, and he had a slightly adjusted Avenger panel, Rob's carrier gauges and the Karel Doorman with him on a datastick! Great guy! :d

For some reason the tailhook on the Avenger did not work correctly otherwise he would have trapped it without problems a few times. :)

A few shots of mine:

KTZ Gooszen ('survivor' of 250 real deck landings!) trying to land the Maam-sim Avenger on my computer while Maarten, Huub and Jan Kees watch and learn. Rob meanwhile is busy talking to the Uiver maintenance guys.

Those museaum guys gave me a hard time looking for things we didn't simulate yet, and actually found one :d
