Gas Prices Part 2 (Nov 08)

It is painful to watch companies boast about 24 miles per gallon autos.
Come the freak on.
My first car, a French AMC Simca, pushed a HemiCuda on the twisting backroads after Sunday night services; got at least over 35 mpg in '73.
'70s Mustangs ...
My currently driven 1985 Volkswagen Golf GTI, 30 mpg in city 35 on highway, and it's very quick; pushed a Corvette a while back, low end; Of and of ...

$1.899 is the cheapest in my area (Danville, VA), which sure beats the heck out of the $4.00+ I was paying two months ago! Makes one wonder???

Of course with the economy going to hades and still no jobs around, not much to cheer about. The conglomerate that owns the local mall has lost 99% of it's value on the stock market in the last year and is probably going to declare Chapter 11. Bad enough when individual stores close and leave people jobless, worse when you lose an entiire mall of stores!

Whatever Obama does, it will not matter unless he can find a way to bring good paying employment back to small town and big town USA. Without employment, this nation is completely doomed to another Depression. I would not want to walk in Obama's shoes the next four years. It is going to be a very tough row to hoe.

Hey All,

It's 97 cents a liter here in Nanaimo which is way better than the $1.45 or so it was. taxes are high here in Canada plus there is the exchange rate issue otherwise I think I think we might be in the $2.00 or less a gallon range.

Caz - Obama has a tremendous opportunity having the house and the senate behind him. We can only hope that he as a democrat can show the leadership of the other great democrats who led America through crisis situations. It was Wilson who showed leadership through WWI, it was FDR who fashioned the New deal during the great depression, it was Truman who showed leadership in WWII including the decision to "drop the bomb", it was Kennedy who faced down the Russian bear in Cuba. Hopefully Obama can follow in this mold - America can only hope - but you are right it is a tough row to hoe.

GEEZ....at an avg of $2.70/gal,we have the highest in the lower 48....Welcome to Western NY...also know as the snow capital of the world

Today: 11/17/08 ... just passed a gas station in Jacksonville that was advertising gas for $1.90.

around $7.54 a US gallon here if i've done me maths right :kilroy:
Take your price per liter and multiply by 3.79 to get an approximate price per US gallon. Then head over to XE.com to convert that to Dollars at the current rate.

Oh, and at current prices, I go about 120-130 miles on about $6 worth of gas! With the windshield installed, my bike's getting around 40MPG. Without the windshield, I can get about 50!

I saw regular for a $1.859 in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, today. The town's right on the pipeline coming out of Montana.
